Mud flaps or not, that's the question

I have been thinking about putting mud flaps on my EB. I am not convinced that I would like the look, but I sure would like to protect the paint and body.
Seeking any comments, pro or con.
If you have them and like them, what do you have and where did you get them? Pics?

How about "Clear Bra" on the areas you want to protect? Mud flaps can be effective but when big enough to work well they do not look good.

Protect that paint

I have run both clear braw and always run mud flaps at least on the front.
My Broncos have rather high-end paint jobs that I did my self and why ruin months of work.
Photos in my garage area of the Gold 1970 and my Blue 1973 Half cab have them.

I put mud flaps on the back of my Bronco in the 1980's when the Arizona Highway Patrol was cracking down on lifted trucks with big tires throwing rocks at other cars. The same ones are still on there!

I used mine working in the woods when I first got out of college. Threw mud everywhere so I put some big flaps on the front. Wish I had gotten around to doing the rear.

Arizona gets interesting. Law states lifted trucks must have mudflaps. But depending on how the Bronco was originally ordered makes the difference. If you have a U13 or U15 those are not trucks, they classify as Roadster or Station Wagon. The law technically only applies if the Bronco was built as a U14.

If you see trail time, stuff with aggressive places in it, that rips mudflaps off really quick. The moment you back up a couple inches there will be a rock or a tree root just right to pinch the mudflap between it and the tire. And the tire will win every time.

It seems if you have an expensive paintjob you don't need mud flaps because it won't be going anywhere that you would have to worry about rock chips. If you don't have expensive paint, well a couple of random paint chips look better than mud flaps. Especially front mud flaps. Hell the chips give it character. But as always in automotive things, do what makes you happy. :)

And with any AZ law it is often up to the citing officer to intemperate what is what. But in general the police know it has to be a truck.

I'll bet. Reminds me of the National Electrical Code. Near the front it states something like "installations/inspections are open to interpretation by the authority having jurisdiction." ;D

A reminder for those with good paint to protect, don't forget rocks getting thrown up inside the front fenders, denting/cracking the paint "up." Somewhere here someone has made or offers an inner fender to prevent this.
