Candy Apple Red - Need Help

My 73 EB is color code "T" - Candy Apple Red. I obtained the PPG and RM paint charts and showed them to the paint shop because I really like the original color. The paint charts indicate Candy Apple Red as a darker red, He painted the engine compartment first and what came back was really bright red - not the darker red I was anticipating. He claims this is the original color. Can anyone point me to a place to get a paint source for the original Candy Apple Red? Or have a good picture of an EB painted with the original Candy Apple Red? Many thanks.

'72 Explorer in either Rangoon Red, or Candy Apple Red. Paint was just barely 4 years old at the time of this picture.
Reminds me of a deeper and glossier tone than the typical red Bronco from back in the day. Which was likely Calypso Coral maybe?

There are three candy apple reds for ford. There is a bright and a dark for the mustang and a different dark Candy apple used on the Bronco.
I ran into the same issue when buying my T code candy apple to repaint my ranger.
To be honest the dark mustang color looks like a wine/maroon color. The bright CA red is a good color but I wanted the original!

Yeah, I hate what Ford has done with colors, codes and chemistry and names over the years.
Same name, different color. Same color, different name. Same name and code, different chemistry. Same code, different name, different chemistry!
And then, just when you think you have it figured out, then you find out "it wasn't available for your year model" even though it's right there on the warranty plate, Marti report, and hidden sheet metal bits.
It's a never-ending battle. And not one of Ford's Better Ideas as they used to claim.
Must have driven Stroppe batty with trying to keep the same color scheme for their Bajas.

That looks similar to my 71 Color. Regis Red, I believe it was only available that year it’s the Maroon looking red.

It gets worse. There is a certain amount of UV fade that comes with paint. But there's also aging. So the paint you see today is not necessarily the same color as the paint you would have seen 50 years ago. But the biggest problem for me is that the base/clear combinations have different formulations than the original single stage versions. So a LOT of color formulations are not being reproduced in two stage.

There is no value for the paint suppliers to re-invent old colors when the EPA changes the rules, and every paint needs to be re-formulated. Modern camera color matching technology enables body shop and paint shops to blend their own mixtures, and those colors have exactly the right amount of "fade and aging" in the blend. For MOST customers, a good color match is more important than a faithful reproduction of the original color.

So yeah, it's an annoying problem, and it's not going away.

Here are some pics, the bronco is wearing T code original paint 1975 dark candy apple red (bronco)
the other two pics are of it sitting after paint with the new paint and supposedly the same color but is a base coat clear coat. Its hard to tell without a side by side comparison but I checked the pain with my glove box and some other original color parts and it was very very close.

Heres a few more.
The tub picture is the 75 mustang Candy apple red. The dash is the 75 bronco candy apple red.

Pics may not look quite the same in person due to the camera and monitor etc.
