Can anyone tell me what this plugs in to? I believe it goes through about the center of the firewall. Could be a 71/72 harness. Not really sure though. Big wire reminds me of amp meter wire?

Red connector goes to short harness for oil pressure sender (1 wire), temp sender (1 wire), and coil (2 wires).
Single connecor goes to ?? anti stall solenoid on carburetor.

Thanks for the quick reply. Not sure if it’s been modified (harness) in the past, but I have a lead that goes to the temp and oil pressure sending unit out of the main harness that comes out of the upper drivers side firewall.

Connector C-218 has 4 wires, going to 3 contacts on connector
R-GR and BR wires share same contact on connector.
R-GR wire is reduced voltage by resistance wire.
BR wire is full 12v bypass from "I" terminal on starter relay.

Connector C-317 has 1 wire.

EDIT: Clarified number of wires and contacts on C-218.

Oldtimer is correct. Because you are looking at that harness on the inside of the vehicle, then a lot of things have been changed.
That grommet with the two connectors is normally inside the engine department, just behind the engine and comes through the firewall near the throttle rod.
Got a picture of your firewall? And the fuse panel?

Are you running Duraspark ignition with your carb, or aftermarket?

So help me understand the chronology please.
The first pictures were of a black tub and original wiring harness inside the vehicle. The pictures that Oldtimer posted of the newly painted firewall, and if I remember from another thread correctly, your other thread is talking about rewiring the Bronco. Or am I thinking of another member here with an orange bronco that was just painted and talking about a re-wire?

Were your first pictures of the wiring harness from when you were pulling out apart and before it was painted?
Are you rewiring with a new harness, or reinstalling the original?
You said had the engine running. Was that before the Bronco was put together and just running the engine? Or are we at a completely different stage now, and your vehicle is fully assembled and wired?

Got some overall pictures of how everything is assembled currently?

I might be mixing a couple of different projects together. Happens a lot with me these days!
Now I seem to remember the member with the Wiring question wasn’t the orange bronco. That was your other thread about throttle cables.
The one I was thinking of might’ve had a Light colored bronco. White or off-white.
Sorry about the mixup.

I am working from seabiscuit68's schematics.
The wire colors in your photo indicate a 73-74 Bronco.
Duraspark II ignition module indicate 75-77 Bronco.

I am going to postulate early 75 Bronco, that Ford used a 74 style harness in.

This would be the wiring diagram in later model years.

Paul,
Yes I stole orange photo from throttle cable thread.

Well, I’ve figured it out. Started in taping the harness and found the original oil pressure wire and the temp wire taped up with the end cut off. Seems like the wreck I took it out of had mechanical gauges in it and they had taped the sending wires up. That’s why I was having the trouble identifying the harness it plugged in to. Thanks for all that helped with this!

Glad they got you lined out, I recognize those chew marks on the purple single one. Mice been having a snack on it...unless you unplugged it with pliers.

Hard enough when broke into long strips to be able to use a zip tie or tie wire and make it stay where you need it.
The whole bronco I got this out of was a nest. Surprisingly the seats, dash, and glovebox tasted better than the wire insulation. That blue plug, if its chew marks, was the only damage to it as far as mice. Previous owner's, that's another story.

All the diagrams show R/Gn & Br spliced at or before C218, but the original pic shows them going through C218 separately.
The engineer showed a separate splice on the schematic.
The manufacturer decided to crimp both wires in one pin, before molding plug, instead of burying a splice in the harness.
