USShift has their new separate LED read out now that is MUCH smaller. Been on the market most of this year. It came out - literally, 3 weeks AFTER I cut up my dash which was the absolute last place I wanted to put the controller... too big, too fugly, tooooo many wires to deal with but I did it anyway... as I waited over 12 yrs for something better and then one month after I cut my dash... oh well... :(

It works ok with a face plate as you can reach it but I need to reach it about ONCE a year! It was stuffed in my console for at least 8 yrs then I had it zip tied to my "temporary" console for another 4+ years.

I thought with theft being so rampant and it just saying "steal me" hanging in plain site with zip ties, I should at least stick it back in my console or mount it since a pair of dyks and about 15 seconds and I could be out $1200.

I read all the posts and looked at all the photos and suggestions. Dash, kick panel, console, cubby, etc. I landed with putting it in the glove box. My thought was that after dialing it in, I won't have the need to use it often. I cut out some slots in the plastic glovebox and will run the wires up into the Q4

Good place to hide it for sure.

I wanted to be able to see the gear indicator (I have the 6r-never needed to look to see what gear I was in when I had the 4r for 12 yrs) and the temp. I have a trans pan temp guage in my dash but it's amazing the differences btw the readings when in different wheeling and cruising conditions. Then after 10 min on the highway they are within 10 degrees again... the US Shift temp sensor reads temp spikes compared to fluid in the pan.
