Hand Throttle Required Parts

What parts are required for installing a hand throttle setup on a Bronco not originally set up with one? I originally thought it was just the bezel, cable, and pedal bracket, but apparently there is more to it...

https://classicbroncos.com/forums/threads/hand-throttle-cable-length.302259/

Looking at this thread, there is a bracket with 3 rods that I have no idea what it does, as well as the single rod beside it.

I want to put a hand throttle on my Bronco, how does it all go together? I'll be running a manual transmission if that matters...

Thanks,

Don

The 3 rods, and bracket are not part of the hand throttle system. All of that hardware is mounted in the engine compartment between the pedal rod and the carburetor. It is there to ensure that you do not have a runaway throttle in the event that you break the LH motor mount. I think in 1976 they added a rivet to the motor mount, and did away with the linkage compensator.

You were right with your original thought. pedal bracket, cable with bezel. All mounted under the dash. Two bolts to hold the bracket to the throttle pedal bracket. Super simple, and super handy.

Thank you, James. I probably could have just PM'd you to ask, but now anyone coming along after will be able to find the answer as well! Thanks, brother!

Ford got rid of the extra rods and brackets in very late 72. Not sure when they started safety riveting the amounts, but we often referred to them as the “351 mounts“ because someone thought they found them there first.
Maybe 76 on Broncos, but perhaps some other vehicles like vans or pick ups with the larger engine got them first?

If you look through the motor mount pictures at Rock Auto, many of the brands are now riveted. Seems like a sensible idea to upgrade to the riveted mounts, or at least switch to them next time one replaces them.
