I just bought this heater assembly from WH and I have a few questions for you that have gone through this.
Please share if there are any other steps to take for this unit.

Firstly and mostly about the little piece does it go between or ??
I think the others are right but please share if I am doing it wrong.

Then I noticed those clips on the blower fan. Are they balancers and should I crump them more?

And finally there can be a little movement on the fan front and back. It at much back as it can be.
Do you tighten it flush with the axle and then tighten the nut? Or is the Nut just for safety?

Thank you

Check out the diagram at lmctruck.com

I do believe the clips are there as weights to balance the blower wheel. With that being the case, It would make sense to carefully crimp to help retain them.

Before installing the motor and fan, how about hooking them up to your battery and giving them a test run? There are a few articles on the web that discuss balancing, such as this one.

The nut on the end is a mounting point for a different style of blower wheel. Click here for an example.

I would think a little bit of play in and out on the shaft is normal, as long as the blower wheel itself is secure. Again, personally I would run the fan for a bit outside just to make sure everything is good before installing it.

Good luck to you, let us know how it turns out!

You shouldn't need to re-crimp those spring-clip weights, unless they are loose enough that they move on the vane. Plus re-crimping in place risks distorting the vane, which could make the balance worse. I'd leave those alone.
Yes, I tried to crimp them more but decided to add a trop of Crazy glue to them and leave them.
It's to Risky as you say and much tension in them.
