The wiring on our Bronco is 48 years old and I have been putting off a new harness for years. I read that it is best to remove the dash, no problem, so I thought. Then I read that there are the 7 screws UNDER the windshield. Well next would be off with the top. It has not been off in nearly 30 years. I decided that I was going to make another top lifter that I could lift off without help from anyone else. This time I used Unistrut for the uprights (legs) instead of 2 x 4s, and again 1/2" all thread rod to lift and then suspend for temporary storage under roof until I can complete the wiring job. The real benefit is I can either save the parts for a future use OR use the Unistrut for future projects. I simply used a battery drill to gently lift the top off, then drive forward until clear. photo attached
