This kit it was designed for Explorer front dress conversions meaning motors with a distributor. Has anyone here used it with stock coil packs? The compressor and coil packs don't seem to play nice together. I'm surprised we have not ran into this before. Surly this has been done? My photo is what I would call the traditional way of utilizing the brackets (motor with distributor). Pics would be great. Thanks ahead of time.

I have the coil packs modeled. I was planning on them going on the valve covers. If you want the files, let me know.

Thanks for the offer. I think we are good for the moment. I am still interested in seeing if anyone has used this bracket with relocated coil packs.

I’m running that bracket with the explorer coil packs mounted on the firewall behind the upper plenum. I’ll see if I can find a photo.

They can basically go anywhere is my point, just means longer spark plug wires.

I know of a bunch of people running them with the Sag bracket, but I can't think of anyone running them with A/C as well.

Thanks everyone for the help. I figured the coil packs were movable I just needed to confirm that.

Jim,
I've been making an explorer coil pack mounting bracket for several years now, originally designed around your saginaw power steering pump bracket kit. I took advantage of that extra space and made it sit down in there nice and low. Then had some others interested in utilizing it with the stock explorer pump which sits up higher similar to that AC compressor. I found that by utilizing threaded stand offs it could be raised up enough to solve the interference issues, and I recall at least one customer attempting to make it work with an AC compressor in that area. I don't recall exactly what was done or how it turned out and I haven't dealt with any of those instances personally myself.

Here's the bracket as originally designed with just the aftermarket power steering pump:

And here it is with stand offs raising it up. The main issue is with the electrical connector on the side of the coil pack having enough space. Tough to tell comparing the pictures exactly how close or far the compressor sits as compared to the explorer pump?
