Anyone used "nut-serts" to install the windshield frame?

Interesting. I still have #1 and #2 in tubes, and have heard of #3 "aviation" gasket. But never used it on anything that I can remember.
Is it a thin liquid in application? Or is it a goopy sloppy gunky stuff? Guessing at least slightly goopy to fill the cavity a bit better, but even a liquid would seal the backside of the hinge if that's what someone wanted.
Either way, I like the "doesn't harden and have had zero leaks" aspect of your report! That's what I'm wanting...

I think my new frame comes with the hinge mounted on already, it's black. I'll be having a black windshield frame; I was thinking to mask the hinge itself off~ leave it black, but matt finish the frame. Maybe a light clear coat over the hinge~ making this up as I go

Honestly I wish i would have gone non painted stainless, my paint on the hinge looks like crap

between pancake batter and rear end oil....
I used to use it in my machine shop on bolt threads going into coolant jackets and never had any problems. Now I'm sure there other products out there but this has always worked for me. I also used to use this with stock valve cover and oil pan gaskets with great success until I switched to reusable.

Hi, since we're on the windshield frame topic, just got my new frame in, it has 10 holes for mounting(I guess), I don't want nutserts, so what's a shallow headed bolt which will work? I'm just going to nut and bolt it. dne'

If it was stainless steel and bolted to both, it would be about perfect. that way you could take off to paint.

or I could weld these on, pass the bolt through the bulkhead and nut it from the bottom?
