I got my first one in 1981. It was a two tone gold and copper 72 with the full chrome grill. I let a buddy drive it home from a party one night because I was hitting on a girl. It ended up upside down in a ditch. I've been a Bronco addict ever since.
Did you get the girl? (hopefully the night wasn't a total loss) LOL

Bought a NEW 1968. I had a list of 21 little things wrong with it (like loose weather strips). The dealer would only fix three at a time. I finally fixed them myself. Removed the top, replaced it with a rag top. Cut out the rear wheels to install 1100x15 implement tires. The Ford dealer made me President of Fords Offroad Club. I ripped out two front axles. Ford would not replace the third one but gave me the parts and I did it myself. I drove it that way for about five years. Built a few jeeps and about twenty five sandrails. I spotted a 67 that had two flat tires and was leaning on the side of a garage. Made an offer and went to work. Sold it to pay bills. Found a 68 fixed it up and got tired of getting out from under it. And said no more. BUT found this now 77 that I am getting to damm old to work on but it does give me something to and tinker with and now I just have something to do.

I live in Louisiana. Back in the late 70's a bunch of us would get together on the week ends and go mud riding. It would usually be 8 to 20 of us. Most of us had full size trucks and a couple Jeeps but one guy had a 66 half cab bronco with a 170 six cylinder. He would run circles around the rest of us in the mud. He could go places in 2 wheel drive where we barley made it in 4 wheel drive. That sold me on Broncos. I bought my first one a 69 in 1978. I have owned 35+ classics and a few full size over the years. I have 2 now. I am 75 years old and still have that passion for Broncos.
Your mud riding story brought back a fond memory. I was one of those guys with an all stock 75 Ranger. Running circles around various built rigs in their own mud play ground. I think, I made a few more believers that day and it cemented my passion for the Bronco. Here is a picture of that 75.

I bought my first Bronco in 1991. Wyoming. Ahhh the good old days. I bought about 15. Swapped parts. Bought and sold. Had people from Denver drive up to Casper to see me, because I was Bronco Steven. I don’t know how that started. Funny thing was that my first Bronco was a 1971-1/2. Titled that way. Such a good rig. Super faded paint. Buffed out to look like new. Had a small dent in the front drivers fender/grill/hood. It was the Regis red. No rust. Drove amazing. I swapped a 76 front and rearend into it. Swapped power steering. No you tube. No internet. Just late nights enjoying the work. Funny thing was when I sold it I placed an ad in a Denver paper. Asked $5500 with a ton of spare parts. Got nothing. Waited two weeks. Same exact ad. Asked $7500. Phone rang off the hook. The guy that came and bought it could t drive a stick. It was a stick. I think he needed a new clutch before he got out of our lot. My favorite customer was this 90 year old guy. He had a 69 half cab. Tan. Bone stock. He wanted to paint it in respect to desert storm. I suggested camouflage. He bought a bunch of cans of paint. Came back about a month later. Had to show me. We went outside and I just stared. It was covered in like five different colors. Of camels. CAMELS. He thought I said “camel flage “. So he cut out a bunch of different sized camels. Then stenciled them all over the bronco in a bunch of military tan colors. It was so amazing. I wonder where it is today.

38 years. Bought my first one in 1988. It was 1968 half cab. Bought a 73 from my brother a few years later. Then a 74 project in 2010. Then some parts rigs in 2015. And more ford trucks. And finally a 78 bronco. Unfortunately, none of my EBs are on the road at this point in time.

Fun post...

Got involved in 1969 when helping my Dad do oil changes, brake jobs, grease (I remember no zerk attachments for a grease gun for CV's back then). Got to drive it a bunch in '70 in Death Valley. It was my folks only "car".

Bought my '68 from a friend on June 26, 1976 as it turned 50K miles. Got 300+K on it now. Be 50 yrs of owning mine this June. It's still a DD but as most of you know it looks like a Bronco but nothing left is stock... just the way I like it. lol Doesn't get quite the mileage that wonderful little 289 got. That's 1/2 my bridge I built in '84... back when they didn't care if you drove in a creek.

The green '69 in the pics is my folks. (update: 2nd row of pics. My girl friend/wife now sitting on my 2nd cage I'd ever built in my Dad's Bronco. My Mom is hanging out the window and this must be in '69 'cause this was b4 the 6,000# Belleview winch that they got in '70.) They sold it in '86 with 186K for 50bucks less than he paid for it including taxes... he thought that was nuts!! :)

My wife was hot rodding the Bronco as the most it could pull were 3ft long chunks. Slick out.

It was a big tree. Click on the pic & you can see me with a 32" bar (having to cut in from both sides) & I look kinda small....

Bent an axle on my car trailer (with side racks) hauling it out slowly on a good gravel road... B4 we had a pickup we'd always haul trailer loads out with the Bronco... and get pushed most of the way home! lol

My first introduction to the Bronco, was the summer of 1975. When I was at a guys place to purchase my first car, a 67 GTO. The guy had a 68 turquoise half cab. Who new at that moment how impactful seeing that Bronco was. In 1978 I purchased my first Bronco. A 1977 all white Ranger. Now, 48 years and five Broncos later. The EB is still my favorite vehicle of all.
love the look of this Bronco, perfect stance, tire and wheel combo

Glad I don't have any that big. I've taken down 7 cedars and two elms since the first of the year and the biggest of those were about two feet. The 20" DeWalt has done well and it's probably as big as I'd want to handle these days. Sawing vertical is one thing, horizontal is sure more manhandling. 😝 Well back out to cleanup some more branches. 😕

Got my first Bronco in 1979.
It was a red 1974 Explorer package. I quickly cut out the rear wheel wells and added white flares on all four corners, put on big tires on white spoke wheels, two KC 1000watt roof lights and headers.
Could not keep those F*&^#$ header-to-head bolts tight for longer than a week at a time. It became a weekly chore to check and retorque those damn bolts- got to the point I could be done both sides in under 8 minutes though.
Sold it in 1984 to a coworker who had a mountain camp on an un-finished road.
Picked up my one owner 1976 Bronco in April of 1998- still have it today.
