Ax15 leaking bad….

Well ax15 is leaking very badly out of the weep hole in the rear of the transmission. It’s a new kit. It’s only been driven in and out of the garage once, that’s it. It happened when I was installing the engine. I had the trans pointed at an angle.

I was swapping motors because I didn’t like how the other motor was smoking and running. Trans didn’t leak when I pulled the other engine out. And it was coming pretty good today. Anyone have this problem? I can’t imagine it’s a normal occurrence just cuz the transmission was at an angle. But I would like an opinion before I start pulling the transfer case.

This is a spare ax15 I have showing where it’s coming out of.

The spud shaft doesn't seal the transmission at the rear output (yeah, I know there is a seal there), the seal is for the OEM application. If you have a housing that has a weep hole, you have to plug it.
I believe I tapped and used 3/6-16 set-screw

So I’m going to need to pull the transfer case. I must have missed that in the directions

I also did what JB Fab did, I can’t remember the tap size, put a little RTV on the threads and installed from the rear of the flange.

I found out the hard way too....
I just looked at the Advance Adapter PDF on their website, makes no mention of the weep hole, but I remember reading something somewhere that explains not all AX-15 had those.

It's in the 50-0209A installation instructions.

You might be tempted to replace the factory AX-15 output seal 716046 (2.562 OD and 1.55 ID) with an SKF 13878 (2.562 OD and 1.375 ID) oil seal. The SKF seal fits the housing and the shaft...but the Dana 20 Spud from AA is short. So it doesn't quite reach the seal. (Don't me why I know this...but I do have an extra 13878 in the garbage can)

If your dana 20 spud does not extend at least 1.20 inches from the face of the mounting flange, it won't reach.

AA instructions about weephole here:

I’m trying to drive the rest of the season. So I’m just going to jam some rtv up there. Drive it for the month I got left, then pull the case this winter. As I plan on some long trips next no the bronco. That is if I’m not too old to handle driving a bronco for 8 hrs at a time. TBT

The Dana 20 is sealed on the spud from the ax 15 right? It’s been a year since I mated the 2. Like they can’t swap fluids correct?
