Door opening measurement??

Got some fiberglass door inserts that seem to be about 1.5" too short to fit correctly. It leaves a real ugly gap. Would someone be so kind as to give me the measurement of the door openeing from front post to back post (along the outside edge of the floor/rocker panel preferably). Is this a common problem?

Thanks

Heh, I just got a set of 1 piece big $ inserts and they fit like crap!!!! My door gaps are right on, it was the inserts that were bad. I have a set of old school inserts on my trail rig and they fit perfect!

1.5" is a little much though, is that on the top or the bottom or both? The inserts are kinda sprung inward so they have to kinda be pulled apart before securing to get the upper gap right.

Probably more info than you needed, but this image is one of the best things I've downloaded from this site.

If you take a tape measure you should get 39" from the center of the three hinge mount holes on the pillar to the outer corner of the quarter panel.

This works for both the top and bottom hinge locations.

Door measurement is right, Insert is waaayyy off

Well, it appears that the size of the door openeing is just like it should be and the insert is WAY off. Any Suggestions??? Do I cut and lengthen them with fiberglass or just shove a 2" x 4" between the insert and door jam to fill the HUGE gap it leaves. Ha ha.

Suggestions/experiences welcome ;-)

Thanks!

I worked mine with plastic filler, even had to change the body line on the insert to match the body, took what seemed like an eternity but I got it and my lines are spot on. Mine were like this in the front ) . Its done and looks good but it was a lot of work. 1.5" is still a lot, especially if that is at the bottom, the tops kinda spring in and have to be pulled into position then secured.
