    Aod Installed, Not Shifting?

My money is on the valve body. as broncobowsher said they are very thin valve bodies and warp easy if over torqued. The valves will also stick if fluid is not extemely clean.

    Transmission Question

I think Broncobowsher has a bad taste for AOD's! I have not driven a bronco with a 4R70W in it. With that said I love my AOD! I installed alto clutches and repalced the valve body. I have not had a problem with it at all. I have used it as a daily driver/ moderate trail use rig for 7 months now...

Although I will not be able to go. I might recommend broad canyon. It has a little for everybody. I have led this trail many times for chile chanllenge and in my opinon it is great for a big group. The trail is rated as a hard but there are many by passes (in fact last year a guy in mostly stock...

Arb, disks & best most economical options?

On full floating axles such as the corp. 14 bolt, and the dana 60 the axle shaft is "floating inside". The shaft bolts on from the out side of the hub and slides into the carrier. There is no vehical weight on the shaft. Think of it as a front axle. the hub carries all the weight. The 9 inch...

    Aod Tranny Question

start with the shifter in low or "first" allow it to reach reasonable speed and rpm. shift to drive. it should shift twice. When I first built my aod it would not shift out of first. turns out the aod valve bodys are POS's. They are made of very then metal and even the slightest over torque will...

my 71 had the same holes. I patched them up before I did my line-X. I figured it was a PO mod but apparently not. If it is for the ac drain why is there one on each side?????

Which transfercase would u use, & why?

I love my aod. I installed a tv pressure gauge on the dash so I can keep a eye on it. I didnt have to buy the expensive computer to run it either. I know that there are MANY advantages to the later models but for my budget (baby on the way!) it worked out better. I made my own twin stick for the...

    efi kit need opinions ...

I have a GM TBI set up in my J**P and it works flawlessly. By far the simplest and most straight forward system you can get. It always starts right up and never runs to rich at idle which is common with aftermarket systems such as the holley. I think it will work awesome! I am placing an order...

So here goes. I have a full size axles in my bronco that currently have 3.55 gears. I bought a used third member that had 4.10 gears on a 28 spline carrier. My plan was to simply swap the gears on to the 31 spline carrier put it back into new third member set it up again and go. All went great...

    Trasmissions for us new guys...

the artcarr and the tuffy box are not any easy to make work together. I had to fab up some plates so the artcarr sits at roughly 25 degree angle to make it work with the tuffy console. My bronco runs an aod w/artcarr, dana 20, 35" tires and 4.88 gears. I works fairly well on the highway and trail...
