    re-wiring a pmgr starter...

Years ago I put one of these starters in my Triumph TR4A. It came with no instructions so I wired a jumper from the large lug to the small one and it's worked fine ever since. When I put one in the Bronco recently, I wired it the same. The starter stayed in gear a little bit too long after...

Fuel tank mechanical selector under seat position

After 30+ years of diving under the seat everytime a tank ran out, I put in the electric valve. Now I only have one switch on the dash that does everything. Worth every penny.

WH 1" Body lift....radiator shroud clearance?

I made up 4 small metal tabs that lowered the shroud one inch. My stock fan has very little clearance to the edge of the shroud so these relocated the shroud lower.

    New 302 and 700R4

I loaded up photos and here's a link. http://www.flickr.com/photos/tr4a4fun/ Yesterday had a tailpipe installed. What a difference. Sounds much better. Still has a rumble and sounds good when I get on it but highway cruising is now tolerable. Bob

    New 302 and 700R4

Advanced Adapters was used for the 302/700R4 and the D20 on the back. Engine to trans adapter was easy. Just had to clearance it a little on the pass side for the header to clear. Rear adapter had clearance problems with the mounting bolts and the shifter bracket. Had to use needle nose pliers...

    New 302 and 700R4

Got the Bronco running this weekend with a new 325hp 302 and 700R4 set up. This was a lot of work but it runs strong and shifts great. Dropped it in low range and it crawls right along. Still have a couple of bugs to work out like a tail pipe. Used 2 1/4 pipes off the headers into a Flowmaster...

"Sweet Thing" - calling all 20+ year owners

My dad purchased ours new in 1971. Somewhere we have a photo of the both of us in the parking lot of the Ontario Motor Speedway with the Bronco in the background before the 1971 California 500. He's looking for it. At least the Bronco outlasted the speedway!

    Best stock seat covers

I put on a front and rear set from the guy in Oregon. They fit really good and I've had no problems for several years.

AOD and a Winters/ArtCarr shifter cable bracket problems

I have a 700R4 with B&M cable shifter. The B&M shifter comes with small tubes that go between the bracket and the pan to space it below the pan flange. Washers can also be used. No leaks.

What high-temp to paint exhaust manifolds ?

I've used Eastwood's manifold paint. Have the manifold bead blasted and use one thick coat. Multiple coats burn off. I baked them in the oven at about 300 degrees before installing them to dry the paint all the way through. Do it on a day the wife is out and open all the windows. It's lasted for...

    New DriveTrain

Had problems with the B&M shifter cable and the transfer case. Too many sharp bends made shifting harsh. Put in a 8 foot cable and it shifts better. The replacement cables are thicker and better quality. Mounted one cooler in front of the radiator but since the radiator has no provisions for the...

    Insurance Hagerty

Was turned down by Hagerty as they wanted to know the other cars we owned. The Bronco is the newest so they claimed thay would not insure a "Collection". AAA covered it.

    C4 shifter-best choice?

I purchased a B&M Hammer cable shifter and mounted it to the right of the twin sticks due to the console being in the way between the seats. Only problem I've found is the bend in the cable needed to clear the tcase and then line up with the trans shifter is very tight causing the movement to be...

    New DriveTrain

Spent a couple of hours last night finishing up the cross member install. By adjusting things around as mentioned in my last post, I was able to reuse three of the original crossmember bolt holes in the frame. I drilled out the threaded inserts and used grade 8 bolts through the frame. It came...

    New DriveTrain

I'm using the Landcruiser crossmember from AA that is listed on the 700R4 in a Ford web page. Last night I found the frame brackets didn't come close to lining up properly with the frame rails. I checked Kincade's web page photo's and found that AA has changed the casting that bolts to the end...

CB antenna on swing out carrier

The best place to mount an antenna is in the middle of a metal top. The metal works as a ground plane and helps radiate the signal in all directions. We mounted our 2 meter antenna in this location as it has more power than the CB. The CB antenna is mounted on a metal plate that is attached...

    New DriveTrain

Dropped the engine and trans in yesterday. Drivers side shorty header went on with no problem. Other side points right at the trans case. I cut the collector just after the point where the 4 tubes come together and added 2 1/2 inch pipe to move it down the side of the pan. Now the flange points...

    302 C4 Dana 20

Came from The Engine Factory in NJ. They rebuilt a 1989 block with alum heads, 9.5 compression, roller cam and all the goodies. Came with everything to drop in and run including an air cleaner. True turn key motor. A bit pricey but I didn't have time to get a block and build from scratch...
