Always can be worse even though the trip must have been frustrating. Someday n the near future when you are driving around in the Bronco with your buddy, this will be a fun story you share with good memories I am betting. Congrats on the purchase.
Is your current column power steering or is the new one? Manual columns are longer than the power units. I would switch over to a collapsible shaft while you are switching it out.
Wow, quite a trip! Not even close to us up here in New England but that would be way out of the way. Safe travels and enjoy the drive. Cannot wait to see the trip in photos.

I would avoid Market Place and Craigslist to start. Good photos and a decent write up. I doubt the fuel gauge will realistically be an issue. Figure out what you want for it and post it on here in the for sale. This is the premiere Bronco site. I would see how that goes first before going...
