    Unbelievably bad gas mileage

Now we are cooking! I got the guys with knowledge on board. Love it. These are great posts and I really appreciate it. AZ, I knew when I wrote the "trips to town" line it was a mistake. It was just side info. I drive that thing all over the place. I use GPS miles traveled off an iPhone app...

    Unbelievably bad gas mileage

That's depressing: 6 cyl 4 spd was my gas mileage idolistic daydream

    Unbelievably bad gas mileage

My sons and I just had that same discussion about how fun these expensive miles are😃. But 5.6...there's gotta be a way to get it above 10...which is double...which is really sad 😄. Might try swapping the 33s on steel for 32s on aluminum. I think I have 4 lying around. Any suggestions are...

    Unbelievably bad gas mileage

Thx for the replies. It's not a stock tank. I ran it dry and filled her up...15 gallons. Speedo is a little off but close. I'm just going purely off GPS miles and gallons I put in. Everything else is cut out of the equation. I meant to say my trips into town are 12 miles round trip...in...

    Unbelievably bad gas mileage

I know, it's nuts. No leaks, at least not on the ground. I fill up. 15 gallon tank. I write down miles on odometer...I drive. I go about 3 or 4 trips into town. 12 miles one way. I fill up again. I take miles A minus miles B and divide by the gallons I just put in...which is usually...

    Unbelievably bad gas mileage

Hi all, so besides my 69EB I also have a 76 CJ5....I'll pause for derogatory comments 😄. Anyway, this is the most technically knowledgeable forum I have been a part of, so my question is this...this beast gets 5.6 mpg. Hard top (steel) on...5.6, hard top off...5.6, full moon....5.6, driving...

VIN says V8 but is I6

Hi guys. Vin swapping is a major no-no, correct? Pertaining to title issues, vehicle seizure, insurance not covering accidents, etc...,right? The reason I'm asking is because truck hound that I am, I found a late 90's Defender that was a pretty solid deal and I asked him for the VIN. He...

    Half Cab to Full Top

Hi Everyone, I have a 69 Half Cab that I currently run with no top...nice day driver. I can get a hold of a full sized topper on the inexpensive side. Are the toppers for the EBs universal, or were different years varied in some fashion? Thanks so much for the help.

    Checking Sender ohms at gauge

Thanks! That would be my most favorite option...to measure ohms when full and empty...can I measure the ohms at the gauge end of the sending wire (not at the sending unit itself for PITA reasons) with a multi meter?? Connect probe to S wire and other probe to ground...kind of substituting...

    Checking Sender ohms at gauge

I have a bad/mismatched after market fuel gauge. Reads 3/4 when empty. Equus gauge. The sender was replaced new OEM by the previous owner. He's not sure he got the right gauge, though. I bought a 73-10 Autometer gauge to replace it. I don't want to remove the sender from the tank. How can I test...

I saw it also in MN. Actually responded to it via CL email. Never heard back. Realized it was a scam when I saw the VT area code.

    Behind the door panel

Thx. It does. I just have to figure out how that "outside handle to latch" floating up in he corner of the picture like Alaska fits into the puzzle. Thanks!! Keep the pix coming if you have any. Tim

    Behind the door panel

Does anyone have any pix handy of the inside of the door (drivers) behind the panel insert? My inside paddle latch works ok, but my outside door handle button is shooting blanks. Push button does nothing and is detached from whatever it was attached to. Pix of what it looks like in there would...

    Newb pwr steering install

Hi everyone. Thx for all the help on previous issues. I've been driving my rig around all summer and its running well. My wife took it out and all hell broke loose. She was a bit "over zealous " on the tranny and bound up the linkage. I drove out to where she was, un-jammed it and drove it home...
