18 inch 7 blade fan installed!

Fan is my next needed upgrade Motor runs at 185/190 when I'm in motion, climbs to 210 when I idle, and it hit 230 the other day when I was sitting at the drive through. B/c I'm running the mustang serp, I don't know that I have room for electric fans.

Stiff clutch after ZF install, hydraulic hose keeps blowing off SC

The slave is new. It is a power torque brand from O'Reillys. I guess I will have another hose cut with an end to plug directly into the slaves and secure it with a roll pin. I am struggling to grasp the concept that this problem is unique to me. I tell you what, I'm getting good at taking the...

Stiff clutch after ZF install, hydraulic hose keeps blowing off SC

I'm really stumped. I went with a stock line, and the same thing happened. The biggest difference this time, probably unrelated but still odd, the clutch pedal locked up (master cylinder froze up?). With the right master cylinder in there (small bore), the clutch pedal is no longer stiff like...

The reverse light pigtail on the ZF

Does it complete the circuit for positive, or negative? I utilize LED lights for added umph reverse lights on the truck, and I have an extra, so I've tucked it under the hitch/bumper where I'd welded a tab when I built the bumper a few years back. I'm either backing the boat trailer at night...

    The ZF install begins

9/29 Progress Update To hear my wife, you'd think I'd worked on this every day since my last update. Oh well, at least she talks to me. After swapping in the small diameter MC and the hose still blowing out, I decided to pull the 3 finger clutch I'd left in. Went with a diaphragm style...

need dowels for new clutch install?

I took the flywheel to a local machine shop today and when they went to clean it before surfacing, the first thing he noted was that the dowels had already been removed. I said I'd owned the flywheel since new and it didn't come with dowels. I asked if I should have had them in there, he said...

Stiff clutch after ZF install, hydraulic hose keeps blowing off SC

hose end It has more of a lip to secure it against the clip than you can see. I misplaced the factory end that came with the transmission, it was cut off 4" from the end of the hose but the ends are similar. Only a slight measurement difference. I think part of my problem, stupidly if it's...

Stiff clutch after ZF install, hydraulic hose keeps blowing off SC

Are there different bores for the slave cylinder? I put the smaller bore master cylinder on and it blew out when I pushed it down by hand. It was hard before that, then boom. I pulled the transmission out this morning, picked up the diaphragm style clutch kit, got the flywheel resurfaced, and...

Stiff clutch after ZF install, hydraulic hose keeps blowing off SC

OK. I just remembered something regarding my hydraulic hose. When I went to have it made, I took the master cylinder in and the slave cylinder and they put the corresponding ends on the hose, so I don't think it should plug directly in to the slave cylinder; it should go to the female end of...

Stiff clutch after ZF install, hydraulic hose keeps blowing off SC

Dang. I bought the MC & SC 2 years ago, still have the box; I bought them (matching) and went to install them and the MC I chose had a down mount for the hydraulic hose which ran straight in to the fender. I'd read on here that the 6 cyl version of the 95 F250 had the hydraulic hose connection...

Stiff clutch after ZF install, hydraulic hose keeps blowing off SC

I'm sorry, you were saying the same thing gunnibronco was saying, I just didn't understand that you were saying to bypass the extension.

Stiff clutch after ZF install, hydraulic hose keeps blowing off SC

The female end (attached to the slave cylinder, held in by the roll pin) has the roll pin installed. That is not what is blowing out. What is blowing out is the male end of the hydraulic hose off of the female end of the SC.

Stiff clutch after ZF install, hydraulic hose keeps blowing off SC

Just installed my ZF transmission, and it's a dream to drive, until the hydraulic hose blows off the connection at the slave cylinder and I have no clutch while in motion. Fortunately, the two times this has happened have been within 2 miles of my house where I can take back roads with no stop...

    The ZF install begins

OK, hydraulic hose blew out again, what's going on? I was sure it was clipped in this time, drove it quite a ways, then went to shift and pedal went to the floor again. Fortunately, I was headed home, and took neighborhood streets where I could stay between 2nd & 3rd, rev matching to shift up...

    The ZF install begins

Drove it for the first time in a long time, and things were going well until the hydraulic hose popped out of the slave cylinder (throw out bearing). I was in third gear on a busy road toward the tail end of rush hour traffic, so I rev shifted down to 2nd gear, and crept back home. I wasn't...

    The ZF install begins

I put a 1" body lift on in 2010 when I built it. I don't see any way of doing it without a 1" minimum BL.

    The ZF install begins

9/13 Progress Update The first design for the cross member needed adjustments, so I made another. It's easy when the material is cheap (2x1 rectangular 11ga tubing, 7' section costs less than $10). The eyebrow I had on the DS was interfering with the transfer case twin sticks hooking up (made...

trouble finding neutral with twin sticks

I'm putting a ZF 5 speed in right now, and I've switched to JB Fab twin sticks. I'm having trouble finding where neutral is. I just want to make sure I have enough cut out for the twin stick travel, but it seems like it's either all the way out, or all the way in. Any tips appreciated. Edit...
