How to tell what front end drive was retrofitted for serpentine system

Bought a 705K6 belt when I got home today and put it on; worked perfectly. With the smaller pulley on the new alt I guess what I was using was too long even though it was shorter than the belt I took off. I also took a closer look at the new idler, it's pulley is smaller than the original one...

I replaced the alt with another alt from Automasters (same model as the original).

How to tell what front end drive was retrofitted for serpentine system

The alt was the same size amp wise as the old alt. The pulley is smaller on the new one though. My next step is to swap pulleys from the old to the new. These pics are of the old setup. Don't have pics of the new setup

How to tell what front end drive was retrofitted for serpentine system

It squeeled with the 7106k belt (shorter) also. I couldn't get the belt under the idler pulley with a shorter belt. The auto tensioner is almost vertically down. I checked deflection and it is between 1/2" and 1/4" using a straight edge. If I detension the idler by lifting up on about an...

How to tell what front end drive was retrofitted for serpentine system

I have a 73 with 302, the PO retrofitted an air conditioner and serpentine belt and tensioner. The belt is not labeled but the tensioner is an E8ZE-6B209-BA. Is there a way to determine what this came off of? I replaced the tensioner with a replacement for the above and belt with another that...

    One wire alternator

Had the alternator checked and it failed. Found a sticker saying it was a powermaster 37100. Ordered a new one from summit tonight and emailed painless with alternator specs to get proper instructions. Thanks for everyone's help

    One wire alternator

I checked my voltage at the battery at idle and at 2000 rpm and only got 12.09 volts across the battery terminals. The red wire went to the starter relay. I started tracing the wires from the alternator and according to the painless wiring diagram. I found the following: -the green/red #914...

    One wire alternator

I would like to go with a more readliy available altenator, how hard would it be to change to what was mentioned above? I've upgraded to a painless harness last year

    One wire alternator

The previous owner installed a one wire alternator which might be going bad (dead battery after charging and going for a ride). If I have to get an alternator, what do you ask for at the parts store. There are no markings on the alternator. Once the battery recharges I plan to check voltage...

    73 Bronco "Ground Issue"???

I sold a reliable 02 F150 to drive this as a daily driver. I've been in contact with a CB member that lives close to me so I have some ideas of where the grounds should be checked/replaced. Now I just have to find time to do it. Thanks for all the replies.

    73 Bronco "Ground Issue"???

Sorry for the late reply, life got in the way. I've had, what I would consider, some charging issues over the last year; when I replaced the battery last August, it was only 1.5 years or so old battery according to the stamp on the sticker. I do plan on looking into it: making sure I have...

    73 Bronco "Ground Issue"???

I've had my 73 for a little over a year now; had the wiring harness replaced with a Painless, pulled the Duraspark and replaced with a Mallory, added the Headlight Relay harness, & replaced the 2 small electric rad fans with 1 larger electric fan. Last night, after a full day at a softball...

    headlight relay

Thanks for the offer, another couple of folks confirmed the bwd 4136 relays are direct replacements. I have some coming in this week.

    headlight relay

So I called Jeff's back to see if they had any other leads for the relays and was basically blown off. Looks like they are off the list for potential purchases. Are these relays so bullet proof that no one has to replace them?

    headlight relay

I have a couple of the BWD coming this week. I called Jeff's and they gave me a distributor name and phone number so I called; they said they don't carry but gave me a number to Digikey who they showed carried it. They don't. Back to square one. I'll report back on the BWD experience and let...

    headlight relay

So I installed the headlight relay last February after I bought my 73 Bronco and the lights went out (the same day I bought it). Fast forward a year and the headlights went out again. I bought new dimmers and tried a couple with the same result, no headlights. We started troubleshooting...
