cam's been in there as long as i've owned it...bout 8 years...not sure if there was work done on it before...

is the floating bearing just "wear" or something to be more concerned with?...could the floating bearing and pieces have been the cause of the timing hanging up in the first place?...should i not expect the same thing to happen again?...although the replacement camshaft timing gear is not as...

Well...finally got spark...ended up timing chain broke...looking at $500+ for repair from the shop...can't really afford that...not really sure if that is a good idea, being as the engine has got 140K on it....not sure how to proceed... i did try to crank it over quite a bit...there may be more...

...got a new coil...still no love...battery charged...new starter solenoid, new coil, new ign switch...positive lead to coil checks out as per ford manual at 5.6v (when coil is grounded and ign in "on" position)...still no spark...seems to me that i should have spark from the coil...?.. any...

Back at it...replaced the ign switch...still no love..or spark for that matter either...plug at switch looked fine...no evidence of a charred wire, etc...can i test the coil..?.any suggestions... thanks ed

charged the battery...changed the starter solenoid, tried both coils and points, do get spark from coil when the coil is grounded (wire to dist from coil grounded to block), and ignition switch in off position (bypass ign switch at solenoid), don't get spark when ignition switch is in on...

it is buzzing, but not like when the bendix? isn't extending at all(not like a game show style buzz), sounds like its working, fan wheel spinning, so i guess it is working? only turning the engine over once in a while but never enough to start it...kinda like a cough and sometimes a real slow...
