So after securing my latest find (stock, uncut, orange-on-orange '73 Bronco Explorer) I decided I wanted to have a custom tire cover for the rear carrier.
In 1976, the Bronco Explorer came with a stock spare cover that featured a compass in black which was super cool. The Copper '76 Explorer I bought didn't have one so I had Angie (she's the upholstery queen of Canada and a beloved vendor on the Board) make me one (see first photo). As I started to investigate all things Bronco Explorer I found that the first Explorer package on EBs were offered in 1973, but earlier Ford truck brochures (1966 up) featured the Ford lineup with what would eventually become the compass used for the Explorer package (see brochure photo from '66). The biggest difference was that the center of the compass featured a quad-colored insert which I think looks pretty cool.
So, I contacted Angie and asked if she could make me a new cover for my '73 Explorer and today she sent me a photo of the completed product and I thought I would show it off! I'm very pleased with the look and quality of detail she puts into her work. Thanks Angie!
