4r70w column shifter options FOUND AND DONE!!, see page 2

Is anyone using this shifter from lokar on the 4r70w? I have the c4 shifter on the stock steering column, what other options are there?

I'll be using the winters sidewinder on mine. Gate shifter no lockouts.

I run a B&M shifter, but then just made my own shift lever to mount to the trans since B&M doesn't support the 4r70w.

I can't imagine a factory column shifter better than my setup.

I have the Lokar selector in the transmission, with an ididit cable and column mount. This is on a 78/79 tilt column and although the column has issues, (bad bearings), it shifts solidly, accurately and the line matches up with each letter perfectly.

I seriously doubt brand new column shifted automatics shifted this well!
Let me know if you have any questions, I spent a bunch of time on this for my build and as you can tell, am pretty happy with the results.

BTW, I started with that exact kit from Jegs, and could not get the rod to work right, which is why I added the ididit cable and mount.

I used the cable from the Mountaineer that I got my 4R70W from and the factory Bronco automatic column. Ran the cable over the top of the column and made some brackets to hold/adjust it. I got the idea from some pictures I saw here.

This is what I did with stock parts. The steering column came out of a 71 F100. New pointer and indicator was from Tom's. (I think) Cable is the stock 2000 Explorer.

what year moutaneer? I imagine the explorers are the same.

Can you give a little more detailed writeup on this? I have a 78 column that I am thinking about putting in soon. Would like switch form my floor shifter to that column.

I piece parted this kit together from ididit, and added the Lokar adjustable shifter mechanism. The lokar piece may not be needed but it allowed me to fine tune the selector alignment.

I have a B&M floor shifter with mine, but I had to make the shift bracket myself since they didnt make one for it.

How do you put in OD? Do you have any pics? I have a B&M Quick Silver floor shifter. I wonder if it would work work with some mods?

That is automatic in the D position. OD off is a push button that you can put anywhere.
