Anyone know if this is correct on my 67? This is how the old one was.
Thanks
Karl

No, it's backwards and in the wrong spot.
The rubber seal actually goes between the two halves of the hinge (just above it and opening to the rear), not between the hinge and the body.

I have not heard much talk about what people put between the body and the hinge when they attach it, but presumably some kind of silicone sealant before they either bolt or weld the hinge to the cowl.
Is yours going to be bolted, or welded?

Or is it actually attached right now? That's too big of a gap to my eye. Seems like it's seriously tweaked, if it's actually attached. If it's just sitting there, then it might be ok after it's fully attached.

And by "too big of a gap" I'm referring to the fact that the windshield hinge is almost touching the back edge of the hood normally.

Thanks Paul. It bolts down. I only have two bolts in loosely. That’s why it looks that way. It’s weird that the original seal was under the hinge that had bolt holes in it. A bead of sealer will probably seal around the bolt holes to prevent any leaks and rust.

A friend referred this to me. I bought mine from wildhorses though.
This answers my question.

On mine there is an extra hole for vacuum line that only allows it to go back in one way. Mine has the bead facing the passenger compartment and is in the fold of the hinge like Paul said. Although my 67 gasket is much thinner than that new one maybe I should buy a new one also.

Does your hinge use bolts? And is there a gasket under the hinge? Mine has a gasket under the hinge between hinge and cowell. I’m going to make a seal.

Mine does use bolts and I didn't notice a gasket under the hinge but I will look closer tonight.
