So the BL went on with ease. Well not ease but thanks to all the great information shared on this board, I knew what to expect and how to tackle it. It raised my rig more than an inch. More like 1.5 to 2 inches. The original 40 year bushings had really flattened out.

Everything's buttoned back up but for the fan shroud. I need to lower it about an inch. Looking for ideas on what others did with home made brackets. I have an idea or two but want to make sure I'm on the right track.

I do need a longer D side E-brake cable but that's just a matter of ordering one.

I had the same problem when I did my 1" bl. Made a few brackets with a small amount of $$, here's what I did...

I picked up a 6" x 24" piece of 16 ga steel at Lowes, along with some 1/4" threaded rod and some nuts/bolts/washers. Cut the steel into into 2" x 24" pieces. Used the fan shroud for spacing and marking holes on the strip of the 2" x steel. Marked my first 2 holes 1/2 from the top of the steel strip, measured down another 1" and marked a second set. Drilled out all 4 holes. I used a couple of 1.25" pieces of the threaded rod, fed them slightly through one set of holes and welded them in. Then ground the welds smooth.

Repeat the process with another 2" x strip of steel and make a second bracket.

For the top bracket, i used nuts/bolts to mount the bracket to the radiator through the holes. The shroud mounted to the threaded rod studs and was secured with nuts.

For the bottom bracket, the threaded rod studs mounted to the radiator and was secured with nuts. The shroud mounted to the holes in the bracket and was secured with nuts/bolts.

I trimmed my brackets to follow the lines of the radiator, and painted them black. You really have to look close to even see that they are there.

My fan is now nicely centered in the shroud after the 1" body lift.

Please cheesus don't do that-- just remove the fan shroud-- and trace at the bottom of the shroud about 2". Trim off the 2", sand smooth, repaint of you wish and reinstall.

I run a 17" mechanical fan. Prior to the WH 1" bl the fan was slightly offset to the top of the shroud. After the WH 1" bl the fan is a little offset to the bottom of the shroud. I never had to do any radical shroud mods at all.

.. Well back when I did mine. I used a couple of little brackets from .. BFE. Or who know where. But they were in my tool box. 1 inch flat strap, hole in the bottom and about a 1/4 top shift . with another hole at the top. 1 by 2 inch strap. just moved mine up and it'd been in place about 5 years old when I stuck the 4BT DIESEL in place.
