I purchased a ruff stuff 1 ton tre kit with the inserts, my question is do you need to ream(taper) out your pitman arm for this? Is it also just a stock passage side chevy tre with the hole for a steering damper that they reamed (traperd) out for the tre to go in? If so could I just drill out a stock one to 7/8 and use one of their inserts and use it for either over or under or if it breaks and I have to buy one from nappa or some were when out on a road trip?

My pitman arm was already the correct taper, but most are not. i think they sell an insert for the pitman arm?

yes it is a stock piece that they ream for the tre. that hole is the weak link of this system so i would carry a spare.. Not sure if i would drill that bad boy out and try an insert?
