One website says there were 23,776 produced for 66 model year, another says there were 18,200 produced etc but what's the real number?

More importantly (to me) how did the VIN sequence work? For instance they obviously did not produce 13,999 Broncos in Aug 1965

Other vehicles used the same number sequence. The Bronco had its own identification in the first part of the VIN but the numerical part would be shared.

23,776 is correct for 66.

Yeah, u15fl732003 could have been the first bronco, and then u14fl732007, then u13fl732014......the numbers in between weren't always broncos.
