Can someone please post a picture of an original 66 voltage regulator location?

I changed my core support, and there are no holes for the regulator...so I don't know exactly where it goes, or which way it points.

Mine is September built...but that shouldn't matter.

THANKS!

It might!
Then again, did they change anything between I-6 and V8 models in regard to the location of the regulator? If it's on the core support and they had two different radiators, it might have had an effect as well.

Is this a six James?

This in in my 66 9/65 built u14. My 10/65 u15 is in the same spot. There weren't any v8 until 3/66.

Thanks. I wondered about the timeline for the 8's when I asked, but was thinking they were offered by Sept.

Hi Paul, thanks for the reply. It is indeed a 6 cylinder...and will hopefully stay that way.

Okie4570 - THANKS for the pic. Super helpful.

Hey - just something else to think about is what wiring harness are you using? My 9/65 U14 had it in the stock location on the driver side (as in the pics above).

However, when I re-wired the truck with a Centech harness, the regulator had to move to the passenger side because the harness now routed to there via the right-hand corner of the firewall.

Not sure how other vendor's wiring harnesses placed it.

Hope that makes sense...

Thanks for the inputÂ…it makes perfect sense.

I'm using the factory 66 harness with the dedicated power feed for the ammeter. Thanks!

Yes, great point Chris! All the harnesses that I'm aware of that are bronco specific are patterned on the '71 and later wiring layout. With some of them, like Centech, patterned on the '73 to '77 models where the regulator was on the passenger side firewall.
I don't remember if the Painless version has enough wire length to mount the regulator in the other locations up near the battery or not.
