I live 5 minutes from Pismo and never go to the dunes. They beat the heck out of your vehicle.

Did you live here or just out here for vacation?

My mom lived in Pismo. I would visit often. I lived in the High Desert (Lancaster). We would go to the dunes on Memorial, and Labor Day. We have quads and a dune buggy, but we would take the Bronco once in a while for fun. I didn't want it to get torn up by the sand and salt water, so I was pretty cautious. Clean it good afterwards and it should be OK. The sand on the inside was under the carpet kit. I was amazed at how much there was. Scary.

I lived in Apple Valley before I moved here (Arroyo Grande). I soon started hating sand, it gets everywhere.

Made some progress...

I started working on the tranny again. I put the new transfer case and stub gear/shaft together on the tranny. While cleaning up the needed threads on the transmission, I found that the lower starter bolt hole was stripped out. If anyone has a suggestion about a repair for that, I would love to hear it. I removed the crossmember brackets from the frame and bolted the hole assembly together. I also installed the Hurst shifter. I can't wait to try this thing out!

I am trying to re-use as many parts as I can. Once it is all together and working, i'll think about prettying it all up.

Spent last night getting the new B&M shifter in place. Drilled an 1 1/2" hole in the floor of the Bronco for the cable. I also bought some nuts and washers for the torque converter, and quickly found that I will need to seriously clean up the threads. Painful.

My wife would hate it if I did that. I think that I am gonna try a 2" body lift first.

Guess I always forget about the body lift factor. Keep up the good work.

For the passenger side header try passing it up from the bottom instead of stabbing it from the top. Had to do that with my full length headers when I put them on.

I did put the driver side in from the bottom. The transmission fill tube will need to be bent a little more to get the passenger side in. I also need to relocate some tubing that goes from the aux gas tank to a canister behind the passenger front tire. That will give me another 1/4 in. I'll try and update this with a photo this evening.

This hole ended up to be right above the rear output of the transfer case. I think that it will be OK though.

That's your original motor. Why won't it fit, the distributor?
The distibuter is one of those HEI (wapp). It is huge compared to the stock one. The manifold is taller also. So is the carb. To fix the clearance problem, I put on a 2" body lift kit. The hood closes now! The steering shaft and brake lines from the master cylinder to the distribution block now need to be altered. I like the lift alot. I am thinking of going with stock hieght, long travel leaf springs in the back now, instead of lifting the suspension. ;D
