I have a 72 bronco with a 302 in it and im looking to convert from manual to power steering. I have looked around the web and found a couple kits to convert the steering but they are pretty pricy(795).

Tell me what you guys have used to do the swap, can i use ford parts off other vehicles? is there a better/cheaper kit out there? Any info is appreciated.........

Welcome might also want to readthrough these links. http://classicbroncos.com/webmap/Steering/
Sometimes you can piece a setup together pretty cheap sometimes not so cheap. Some of the kits really help reduce the headache and you usually get all rebuild or new components. With junkyard stuff you dont know what your getting until you try it out.

I used the kit from Tom's. As you mentioned, it was pricey, but very easy conversion as everything you need comes with the kit.

i went with the 4x4x2 box. i figured it would be good to swap that in now so that if i want to go with ram assist later i can just get the box ported for it.

Check the classifieds here, the stock parts come up for sale often. Craigslist is another good source. Has to be a '73-'77 Bronco as other mentioned for a bolt in replacement. The steering shaft will have to replaced as well.

Good deals are out there, I picked up a factory PS box, pittman arm, pump and brackets for $50 a while back. Ordered a WH's steering shaft for about $200 to complete the setup. Just need to install it all now...

Both. The power steering box is a good 7'8" longer than the manual box along the frame rail, so the shaft needs to be shortened.

The spline count on the input shafts of the boxes is the same (36) but the sizes are different. Hence a new joint is needed.

Wow, I knew the PS was bigger than the manual, but not by 7 feet 8 inches.

new or remanned boxes even off the newer trucks are going to cost around $3-500 so really by the time your done buying the other parts needed that kit didnt cost all that much.
The only real cheap way is to get lucky and either score cheap factory parts or get lucky at the local junkyards mainly pick and pulls as they tend to be way cheaper than normal junkyards.

Well since your new here. I say search and read a lot of the post here on that subject.. Not to say search but It has been discussed many time and we've all done it 40 different ways.
.... I used a 1970 ScoutII box and had it reversed and it is now 3.25 turns . Too fast but better than the stock 6 turn box .. I also picked up a gear box off a diesel sight but for a Bronco and only gave $65.00. So there are deals out there.
....But after I finished my ScoutII I thinl I had about 500 + in it So I've wondered if it wasn't better to just buy a kit rather than gather up stuff.
....Not I like the chase .. Just like finding a new fat girlfriend!
