Trying to install the EZ wiring harness in my 1972 bronco but I don't have the original harness to go off of as a guide. Does anyone have pictures of an original harness or tips to help me complete this job? Anything at all would be much appreciated!

Consider pm'ing "Tasker" (Randy) on here. He might be able to help ya'. Pretty sure he did the EZ on his fiberglass build. Check his build thread out as well, can't remember for sure but he has done great pics along the way

I am in the middle of the exact same effort. It's actually fairly simple. In this case the directions are right on. I did not remove any wires before I started as I was afraid I would change and need them later. Just take one section at a time. I threaded the front and back sections and bundled them back together. Then worked on the engine compartment and power wires. Next is the dash and column. After I can verify power is there and it starts, I will then worry about the lights.

Get good tools, get a good ratchet crimper and quality wire stripper.

Spend some time drawing how you will connect and run the wires. I use a spreadsheet to map the different ez wires to another wire or thing.

Ask here as you go, lots have done this and provide quick answers to questions.

First off thank you for the help. The biggest issue we have is that there was no wiring or wiring harness in the bronco when we started. The main issue now is that we can't get the blinkers, brake lights and headlights to work without having the hazard switch turned on. Do you happen to have any pictures of what that part of your wiring looked like?

Your best bet would be to search on this site for wiring diagrams for your year and print them out. You won't really care about the colors, just the terminations. It really helped out installing my EZ wiring harness. For each switch make your own pin-out diagrams...it really helps especially with the turn/hazard wiring. There are some circuits, like the windshield wiper and fuel tank selector, where you will have make up your own wiring since you don't have the original.

I went to the hardware store and picked up a piece of 1/8"x2"x2' aluminium strap and built two L brackets out of it and mounted it inside my glove box. You want me to send you some pictures of it?

How do I pm on here? And I can't seem to find the build thread feed either.

I mounted the EZ fuse box on the drivers side , bolted to the bottom lip of the dash.

For those looking for old wiring harness pics, how come you need them? each wire is labelled every 6 inches with what it is for. I was able to do the install with just schematics online and the (very) scant installation instructions that came with the harness. BTW the installation instructions that come with the more expensive (and better equipped) harnesses will prove invaluable if you download them.

Main reason for the wiring diagrams is to identify the pinouts of the switches and connectors. Also, because the stock wiring of the bronco only had half a dozen fuses, a few circuits tapped into other circuits for power, and a couple of circuits got power from switches not directly from the fuse box. The circuit logic of the chevy based EZ Harness is different from the archaic stock bronco harness, especially the turn/hazrd, tail and stop circuits. Wiring diagrams just made my install easier.

Thank you for that explanation because that is the exact problem we are having. When we hook a power wire to the turn signal switch power wire the turn signal comes on as a solid light and does not flash. Do you have any advice?
