The cable was installed but never driven. It runs from the pedal to the body mount near the transmission. I was going to convert to a 77 cable system but changed my mind. It may fit earlier models. Check your current cable and make sure it is threaded on the end like this one. The threaded end of the cable can be seen from under the vehicle. It will have a return spring attached to the hole in the end of the cable. Most earlier ones had a ball on both ends. $20 to your door.
