1975 Bronco steering column

the steering wheel on our Bronco is from a late model mercury and I have tried everything except the "Fire Wrench" (which may come to be). If I can't get it off, I will replace the whole column. What I would like to know is the steering column from a F150 workable and what years would work best? It would have to be an automatic transmission column. Would really like some help here......

Steering wheel puller will hopefully help out, if you end up removing the column and replacing with a F150 column, good luck. I would def. work with removing the steering wheel as much as possible. You can use the original manual column with an automatic unless you wish to use a column shifter of course. Most conversion use a floor shifter. I recently replaced my column and bearing and steering shaft. Send me a message if you have any questions.

Have you tried a steering wheel puller? Other than that it may have been forced on or corroded on. Is this a manual or power steering truck? Is the lower steering shaft 1 piece or 2? You should be able to pull the shaft loose in the engine compartment and pull the shaft out of the column from inside to get it in a press. That may involve removing a rag joint and flange depending on what lower shaft you have.

Also, why the 3 threads asking the same question? Answers have been given in all 3 of your threads but haven't gotten any feedback from you.

steering column information

I guess as being a newbie that I have not figured out retrieving messages. the Admin was very helpful explaining this. I have had several pullers and whoever put this late model mercury wheel on must have used a impact on it. I got the Bronco's wheel off on one more try using the puller and also a impact hammer and it finally came loose. I bought it off eBay from a fella in Andover Kansas, stating "rust Free and original paint. After removing carpet the whole rear floor needed replacement and wheel tubs. He deals in Bronco's for sale. I will be watching for Bronco's from him on eBay. So Beware of This on eBay.
