I fell in love with the early broncos when I was 15. Took me until 38 to be able to afford one.

Do you guys think the brake upgrade ,ac and roll cage would hurt the value? We like driving it in the summer. But it can get kinda hot. Plus I do not have a really safe way to buckle in my daughter in the back seat. So I do not drive it that often.

I look at brakes and roll cage as safety issues, especially if you have kids in the back so don't worry about hurting the value with those things. If you are going to drive it much you want both of those things. As for AC, I can see how some people would say that deminishes the value but I wouldn't care.
No doubt there are purest that may think differently but they probably aren't driving their cars much so safety may not be a top concern.

none of that will hurt the value, if anything increase it. one reason is that bronco's did come from the factory or dealer installed. just my .02

I understand the reasons why people want a roll cage but to me it does lower the value of a stock, all original Bronco. Disc brakes would not concern me. Under-dash air was a dealer option and would not decrease value if done correctly.

I think you have to decide how you are going to use the Bronco and go from there. It can be a more comfortable driver or an original collectible. It's a fine line when you start changing things.

I have a 77 in similar condition with dealer air. I never drill a hole in it, or do anything that cannot be easily undone.

That is a great looking truck, I'd have a hard time doing anything to it. How do I know? I've got a 76 Sport that I've been afraid to do anything to for two and a half years. @slowleak said it best, "I never drill a hole in it" - but damn if I don't want to put a cage in it so, you know, I don't die.

I was looking at the cage from BC Bronco. If I understand it correctly I should not have to drill much.

Make it safe and enjoy it. Add a power brake booster - all bolt on and will make a huge difference in the braking. None of the "add-ons" you've listed will hurt with maybe the exception of the 5 speed because you have to cut a hole in the tunnel and add a body lift. Factory original is hard to find!

I know you mentioned driving in the summer. Do you remove the top? If you don't, then maybe ok with no cage. Wondering if that is why you want ac? As far as ac goes, I don't have it, but wouldn't think of it as a negative either. Definitely make sure you can stop comfortably.

Great looking Bronco, as for the upgrades you mentioned it want hurt a thing with those. As for a cage I would look into the Krawlers Edge cage, it ties into the windshield frame and doesn't have the bar coming down in the front that will interfere with you gettn in and out, the glove box or the E-brake, but still provides good safety.

Thanks guys. Do you think the brake upgrade, roll cage and ac would hurt the value?

No, in my mind those things help the value but regardless they can be reversed if really necessary. Sweet looking truck, I agree with everyone else on keeping the original paint and adding the safety features so you can enjoy it with your kids.

Make sure the mechanics and bolt on-bolt off stuff is right, then just drive it. If you want to heavily modify one, I will gladly take this ones off your hands ;)

That thing looks awesome, don't change a thing. I have a 74 Ranger and made a few changes but nothing that can't be undone.
