When you say column, are you speaking of the lower shaft with the rag joint and u-joint (yoke) that connects the steering column to the steering box?
Or the main column itself?

For the shaft, anything with a 3/4" x 36 spline attachment and the correct length would work. Not many later model cars or trucks with the proper stuff, but should be some earlier models.
You'll find that most (but not all!) stuff from other vehicles is not quite a perfect fit for Early Broncos.

Do you know if the gearbox itself is original, or could it have been replaced? The size and spline count of the input shaft on the box can vary, so you'd need to know for sure.
Stock was 13/16" x 36 spline, but there are probably 10 different variations on that theme with different swapped in boxes.
Since yours is a '77, it's likely the stock box. But no guarantees after almost 40 years either.

And welcome to classicbroncos.com too by the way!

Good luck.
