Lokar has ed-5005 which is 13.5".

I am looking at pipe and tube fittings on Amazon supply. Maybe I can do a 5/8 straight thread o-ring adapted to either steel tube, brake line, or even high temp DOT nylon. Just gotta find a way to prevent leaks, make it swivel (if needed), and provide a clear path for dipstick to travel unimpeded.

I wonder if anything exists to adapt inverted flare (brake line) to 5/8 o-ring male.

What is the OD of a dipstick tube?

So a 3/8 brake line has a 5/8-18 IF male fitting.

Someone help me find an adapter for 5/8-18 IF female to 5/8-18 straight O-ring.

Gotta find a suitable stick material and way to secure it to tube. You fellas with the van dipstick, can you please measure the OD of the part of the stick handle that fits into the tube? Also what is the width of the stick?

Edit: why can't I just take a push style tube and throw a 5/8-16 o ring fitting on it?

Developed and implemented a solution.

My dual sump pan is likely from an 80s Crown Vic Interceptor (351w). It has a threaded dipstick mounting port on the driver side of the pan.

Pulled dipstick and tube from a 1991 Ford Econoline (E-150) Van 4.9 300ci V6 (Code Y).

It has the 5/8-18 thread and was crazy long.

Had to do a handful of modifications to make it work.

Chopped about 10" off the tube and created a new flare at the end.

Also had to carefully extract the dipstick from the upper rigid housing as the housing was preventing full engagement into the tube with the radius of bend near the upper 15". Chopped the upper housing down a bit and recrimped it to the dipstick.

Drained the engine and filter and added my desired amount. Marked the stick and went on my merry way.

Took about 3 hours of bending and cutting and fitting to get it all correct. It was worth every second. I am so happy I can now check my oil without having to climb up into the engine compartment.
