I'm a little disappointed by my 2013 F150 EcoBoost MPG's. I have a 4x4 model with MaxTow package including 3.73 gears and the larger towing mirrors. I also run larger AT tires. All of that has taken a huge hit on the MPG's and I average around 13 in town and 18 on the highway unloaded. While towing my 8k trailer I get right at 10mpg unless I'm in the hills then that drops to around 9mpg.

mmmm I wouldnt go by the mileage computer. Mine says 15.2 and my last fill up was actually 13.5(handcalc) (and yes I have reset the computer). Its never been LESS than .5mpg off and is often 2 mpg optimistic.

My highest ever was 17.71 and lowest 8.19(towing)...average is 14.49 currently.

The rep at the Ford display claimed to me that the 15s ecos are completely redesigned and the MPG estimates are more accurate now, better longevity, less emission issues, etc, etc

...but then again he's a Ford rep ;) I recall reading there was almost a class action taken re: MPG claims with the early eco's, but how do you prove that? Like many of ya'll have stated, one's foot has ALOT to do w/ MPGs.

when my dad bought his 14 F150 and was finding nothing but eco's, he finally had USAA jump in to find him a 5.0, he drives them until the wheels fall off and felt better w/ a plain ol' V8 v the eco

No lie people I know and work with get in the 20's on the highway and that's doing the math to get the MPG's ;D And yes I'd drive a 5.0L also I like the KISS aspect of the 5.0L compared to the Eco Boost.

i read a great article by Ferrari on how everyone was going to turbos to save gas/emissions but in reality they eat a lot more gas in real world driving conditions than a larger NA engine with the same power output.

i was going to link the article but i cant find the damn thing lol.

with that said i kinda want an ecoboost for my EB!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have an Ecoboost in my fusion and I have a 5.0 in my work truck. I agree the MPGS of the Ecoboost is over stated even in the Fusion, but as others said my driving habits make a big difference. When I first go the car I was getting close to 30mpg but I was driving like grandma, now I drive it like I stole it and I get 28. My 5.0 work truck is the same way, when I drive conservative I can get 18+ MPG on the hwy, but most of the time I am driving fast hauling 500+lbs of tools or towing a trailer with equipment from 4,000 to 8,000 lbs on it. I average around 14-15mpg. I got the 5.0 in the work truck because the more simple design and lower maintenance and up front cost. I have no regrets.

I'm on my second ecoboost. Current one is the 2013. I went to Moab last year from Missouri. Total weight was 15,900 which actually exceeded the stated limits. I put the cruise on 70 and just smiled going up the big hills. It dropped down a couple of mph and then right back to the set speed again. I averaged just under 10 for that whole trip. The first 2015 that is traded in here locally will be my new ecoboost.
