I'll be going but I am not sure about joining the Bronco Club on the south side. I usually hang out at the north end of Woodward. Scoop will need the crawler to climb over the top of all the other cars there.

Ford/BCA has reserved an exclusive area for Broncos only. I plan to be there really early to get a spot and will probably stay there till the end! It will be my first time at Woodward Dream Cruise and I have no idea if north end or south end is "better". Can someone explain the nuances? ;D

North end towards Birmingham typically draws the higher end car clubs and displays. I'm guessing this was a late add and they took what they could get.

I like the very north end in Pontiac where Woodward loops and returns south. There is a lot of action up there as the Police have been very tolerant of people showing a little aggressive behavior with their rides. I like cruising Woodward through the week and parking in Pontiac on Saturday as the Boulevard becomes a parking lot and I don't like driving in a traffic jam. Usually Thursday and Friday evenings are very good for cruising up and down Woodward and seeing a lot of nice vehicles. I have been going there every since it began and usually take my 69 Pro Street Camaro but this year I will act my age and take the Bronco.

I was at the lot in Pleasant Ridge 2 years ago, Ford had the same thing going on but it was for any Ford. You still had to pre-register to get in. If you stay at that lot all day you will miss a lot. You should be able to come and go and still have your spot reserved. But as said by 11:00 or so there will be a lot of traffic and it can be at a slow crawl. The cruise probably started tonight and every evening for the next week will get busier and busier. There is a lot going on this week, I'm doing a car show tomorrow and Wednesday, then in front of the bar at 14 on Friday. I usually park somewhere on Saturday and walk from 14 to 13 down one side and back up the other, you can really see a lot doing that.

If we both show up we can have a spectator vote - which is the REAL Monster Bronco?? ;D:cool:

If there is a tie we'll get Stevie Wonder to cast the deciding vote. He's from Detroit, isn't he?

@CopperRanger - thanks for the pics and explanation of how it works. Not sure if we'll have in and out privileges. What mile marker is Pleasant Ridge?

I am 99% sure you will have in and out privileges. You would be at 10 mile road at the Ford lot. The cruise runs from 8 mile road all the way up to square lake road mainly, which is 19 mile road. It does run all the way up to Pontiac but I never went that far north.

Sounds a lot like the Pigeon Forge TN Rod Run - it takes 3-4 hours just to make 1 cruise through town!

As a veteran of every Dream Cruise I'll chime in. Anywhere you go there will be sweet cars to check out. I wear good walking shoes and walk a lot - you will be able to see many more cars this way because most people with the best cars don't cruise them. If you plan on staying in one spot most of the day & can I would bring some lawn chairs & a cooler with drinks and snacks. There are usually porta potties spread out along the route & some businesses will let you use their bathrooms but not all. The best time to see cars is early 6-8am as the guys with nice rides head to their spots & most spectators are still waking up - not clogging the road yet. Starting in the south at 9 mile is a Large Ford display & the Mustang alley. Broncos are in Pleasant Ridge just south of 696(10 mile rd) on the west side. I haven't stopped or sat here before but the park seems to have lots of trees for shade & I don't know if Ford will have a tent or if there will be room if you bring a canopy to put up. If it's hot and are sitting shade is going to be your key to a better time. 10 - 12 mile is a good section with cars parked right on the road in front of the businesses. North of 12 mile on the west side is a cemetery & spots are sold by Berkley good viewing & walking area. At 12 1/2 mile on the east side is a used car lot with a couple dozen SOHC cars, It's one of my favorites because you have them all in one spot. 13 mile is the center & gets congested but the park on the east side just north of 13 mile has great cars and is all shade. there is also plenty of food options in this area with a food truck area on the edge of the park. 13 - 15 mile good walking with tons of great cars. 15 mile Birmingham is the Chevy display and cars parked along Old Woodward are often some of the best. This is a great area to walk as it's usually a little more open. You can also find the Lingenfelter display here. North of 15(Maple Rd) up to Square Lake is good to cruise(northbound) a few private party's spread out so not good walking. Southbound cruising is ok until you get to 15 mile it always gets backed up. North of Square Lake up to Pontiac is lots of party's spread out so again not the best walking. Pontiac is always fun with some tire smoke to keep you entertained. A couple big lots in Pontiac some years it's better than others. Just a couple final thoughts - Don't think you can see it all because it's just too big. The cops close Woodward at around 9pm Friday and Saturday by diverting everyone off the main road so leave a little early to miss that. A veteran tip if you are cruising is to cruise until you hit a big backup then get off on a side street make your way a 1/2 mile to mile then come back over & get back in past the congested spot.

Plan on having fun & seeing an amazing number of incredible rides.

See you all at the Cruise!!!

Went up to Woodward after the Clawson car show tonight for dinner, saw this one parked. Dave, does it look like Millar's bronco, haven't seen him in a few years. There were a lot of cars out there tonight. Nice job on the cruise info by the way. One other thing about the food trucks at 13 mile, "chicken-on-a-stick" try it.

Thanks for the info and the map, Bajabrewer. I will be at the Ford location on Saturday as well. I plan to bring a few extra of my books along. If anyone hasn't purchased one yet and wants one, let me know.

Well I just registered for the Bronco event on Saturday. I figured if Scoop can make it from Colorado then I should be able to make it from Pontiac. I have wanted to see his crawler and his patina build but I never figured that would happen as I don't see me ever making it to Texas. Will be nice to meet him and some other folks on here and it will be a good time for that. I have lived in SE Ohio for 12 years now but am originally from Michigan and have always gone to the cruise. I remember the first year it started I worked at the GM Engineering facility on Woodward and South Blvd. I couldn't believe the classics that came out of the woodwork. We could walk out of the building and watch them going up and down Woodward. Hard to believe it has been 20 years. See you all on Saturday. Oh and Todd, I may have to get a book while I'm there. The first 2 years were the best because only the cruisers came out. Then anyone with a vehicle thought they would cruise too & it was a mess for a couple years until finally people started not driving the minivan in the "Cruise".

I know you guys like pictures so here's a few from past years

Great pics! We're thinking about cruising on Friday night. Any tips or what to do or what not to do? How long would it take to do say Mile 10 to the loop on Friday night???

Depending on what time you leave I would guess it could take up to two hours. The later it gets in the evening the busier it gets. You would probably want to head out by five if you don't want to get stuck in to much traffic. It's weird because some years are busier than others. What day are you planning on getting here?
