2150 Carb Vacuum Question

On the back of my 2150 carb, right under the air horn, more to the driver side, there is a vacuum hose barb. Does this connect to the EGR or somewhere else? If I have taken the EGR off, can I just plug off this barb or would it help anything if I connected it to a vacuum source?

Hi, if it on the carb base it is a vacuum source. If you are not using it you should plug it. If you disconnected something you should plug it. Good luck

A photo of the rear of your carb would help. Some have a PCV nipple that's about 3/8" diameter. Some don't. All 2150s have small 1/4" nipple for the choke pull off diaphragm, that should be used on all, except ones with manual chokes.

Some 1974 California bound broncos had a vacuum amplifier for the EGR that the vacuum source was supplied exactly from the location you are describing.

Thanks guys! I'm just going to block it off as it doesn't seem to make any difference in the engine wheather it has vacuum or not. I just got this motor recently and don't know any history on it and, so far, can't find any info on the carb. Of coarse the tag is gone also and the only identifying marks are Motorcraft on one top side and what looks like a D with wings and the number 11 on the the top right side where the tag would normally be. Haven't taken the carb off yet to see if it has any markings on the side of the bowl. The engine runs, but roughly. May not be carb related, could be dizzy related. Need more testing. I kinda enjoy unraveling these puzzles.
