Hey everyone!
I am a newby with a '66 EB with the 170cu.in. six(pretty weak) I also have a strong running '85 Ford van with the 300 cu. in. six.
Would a swap be feasible?
Thanks,Old Racer.

Its possible, but is it worth the time, money and effort is the question? Hopefully someone who has first hand experience will chime in. Out of cuiosity are you looking for more power, torque, novelty, etc.?
Start getting your motor mount measurements (170ci v 300ci) to see how much further up front it will be. Guessing you might have to move your radiator halfway up into the grill.
I upgraded my 170 to a 200 .30 over (no huge performance gains even w/ performance parts) and eventually converted to a 302/C4 for the fun and fast factor. Lots of common parts and reasonably priced.

300 I-6 is a good, torquey engine. There have been a couple EB's on here with 300's in them and aside from the inherent swap difficulties due to the overall length of the engine, they're a good choice if the goal is lot's of torque at low rpm without a lot of displacement.

Be patient and I'm sure someone with first hand knowledge will chime in.

I regret to tell you I have no knowledge for this swap but I have considered it for years, as I have had two F-150's with this power plant and I love them to death, no really to death because I drove one every day with 1000 pounds of drywall scrap and 5 psi of oil pressure and it just never would say die! same truck I would pull people out of deep snow filled ditches by flooring it then dumping the clutch in an extremely violent manner repeatedly while my T18 was in low, you cannot under normal circumstances or in my opinion abnormal circumstances kill this engine and I think it would make an awesome mill for an eb!

ps I have also seen them go 300k miles with no oil change and 500k miles with no tuneup swear to god, and the 300k were in sbc ameritech fleet trucks.

I don't know if any of the guys that have done the swap are still around, but I have an Email and some pics from a guy on here that did it several years ago. PM me your email and I'll send you the stuff.

I put an EFI 300 into my EB a few years ago and drove it for a couple of years. If you want to put the engine in, it'll go, but will be tight against the firewall and will extend the drivetrain by about 5". This will require driveshaft and transmission crossmember mods as well.

I made a number of other changes as well, although not because they were needed, but because I wanted things a certain way. In my case I put it into an EB frame that had the frame horns for a V-8 on it. I cut them off and dropped them down about 1.5", and notched the front crossmember as well. This allowed me to keep the CG lower than had I just put the engine in (which I could have done).

I did a bunch more stuff since I extended the wheelbase and cut off the inner fenders. You can see some pics here: http://pages.prodigy.net/rjlougee/blue.html

If you've got some more specific questions I can help.

I don't think I have ever seen anyone ever stick a radiator that tight to the grill.

I hate to mention it, (flame suit on) but the Jeep efi 4.0 would be a great hi torque engine in an EB.

I had a '90 Cherokee with one and it was super in 4 Low, massive torque at low rpm.

I had a '91 Cherokee with the 4.0 as well and it was a decent engine. However, that's in a Cherokee, an EB is a lot heavier and it just wouldn't pull as well.

Kinda like the supercharged 3.8 V-6, great buggy engine, underpowered in a full sized EB,
