3000 mile trip-figured I better introduce myself

I wanted to introduce myself. Owned my Bronco for 15, driven it for 10. I also race a 1973 Alfa Romeo spider in a series called the 24 hours of LeMons (Lemons, not LeMans). Basically its endurance racing for idiots. This year they added a Rally race to their calendar, so I figured it would be a great time to take my truck on a big trip. Me and an old friend from high school are taking turns driving for 6 days straight. I have spent the last two months refreshing everything on my Bronco. Suspension, brakes, interior, fluids, lighting.

Getting ready to take off next Sunday and start a loop. It is kind of like the old Cannonball run movies. We don't know the exact route yet, but we will start in NC and stop by DC on our way to the starting line in Moscow PA. From Moscow to Buffalo, to Pittsburgh, to Asheville, to Memphis, to Birmingham. Hopefully all will go as planned and we will be pulling into Birmingham on February 3rd with the top down. If it doesn't go as planned, I will be on here looking for parts and a warm garage to wrench in!

It came up now. I think since I'm new, the pictures had to be approved.

Thanks. I have put a lot of money and bloody knuckles into it. Not sure yet about the route. Tuesday morning at 6:30am they hand us a packet with optional stops and points for each destination we reach. We have a few clues from digging around. I think that day we run back through Paris TN and then south to Birmingham.

Super cool!

Hope you can route the trip to stop by the Bronco Vendors too

We are in Knoxville 5-10 minutes off the freeway.

That's a cool thought. I know we are driving the Tail of the Dragon which will put us south of the SMNP. I can only imagine that we will come back up through Gatlinburg and then West through Knoxvegas. I'm going to add your address to my route book. We are spending Wednesday night in Asheville, then Thursday in Memphis, so hopefully I can swing by sometime in that 24 hour period. Probably Wednesday before lunch.

If you're going from Buffalo to Pittsburgh, you will be going right through Erie, where I live. If you have any issues anywhere in this area I might be able to help.

Welcome to the site and good luck on the rally. I love adventures like that and am jealous. I hope everything goes smooth for you, but if not it's all just part of the adventure. Nice rig!

What are the details for Memphis, Paris TN?
I live between Memphis and Paris. If I was home, I might try to meet you at one of those stops.
Good Luck!

Sounds like a great adventure. Please keep us updated with photos. My one observation. If driving 3000 miles, I assume all on pavement. Would some more road friendly tires of a slightly smaller size be more economical and comfortable? Have fun....
