I'm geting a sweet 302 EFI motor complete with all accs, wiring, computer. the motor is super low miles. Bighorn has given me some insight on what i might need. I will paste that here now... I plan to run the np435 with this as well. I have a 19gal fuel cell that will be in the bed. I guess i need to know just what all i will need for this swap.

Chuck,

If you're sticking with the EFI you'll need to use the stock TFI dizzy. It has a HEI stator incorporated in as well as the TFI which tells the coil when to fire. It's a 50 oz imbalance so you'll need a 50 oz imbalance flywheel. Most any manual 5.0 bronco or mustang would have it. I don't know to much about the 435 and the clutch but you'll have to make sure the bolt pattern for the clutch will work with that flywheel. Same SBF bolt pattern.

The harness is the most complicated part. The nice part about the factory EFI is that you hook all the sensors up, set the timing to 10 tdc and it does the rest of the tuning in the computer by learning your engine. Your sensors are a key component. If you're not sure about it working, replace it, as they generally are cheap and can really screw up the mix.

Here's some links to EFI swap in the Bronco......

If you are going carb you can use the DUI ignition. Remember it has a different firing order than an early 302...it uses the 351w order i beleive. I've got it written down but I can't remember.....I haven't gotten that far. You will have to change the drive gear on the dizzy to match the steel roller cam or it will eat the gear and trash the engine.
Thanks,Chuck

also...i will find out tonigh what year and model it came from...I believe its a early to mid 90's mustang GT. with 18,000 original miles!!!!

Well to kick it off you'll need a clutch bar pivot adapter thingy. The late motors didn't have the mounting boss/hole. WH has 'em.

at least a 1" body lift with the NP435.

As far as the pressure plate to flywheel bolts. (I bought my flywheel at Advance Auto 87 F150 5.0) You won't be able to reuse the same bolt holes for the new flywheel. The new flywheel uses the same bolt pattern, but larger bolts. 6 of them I believe.

oh, and transfer your alignment dowels from the old 302 to the new 5.0 block. My 5.0 motor didn't have them, don't know if yours does or not.

I'll think of something else later im sure.

Are you using the serpentine belt or V belt??
Some fan work will need to be done.
Are you using the AC compressor?
again some work will need to be done to eliminate it. either creative belt routing or an eliminator bracket.
Smog pump same thing.

My .02
I like the Stock Mustang fan so I move the radiator forward 1" using 1x1 square tube, cutting the core support.
Smog pump , i gut them and reinstall silicone up the holes.

These are some great thoughts keep'em coming.

I just removed all my body lift...so Im to the frame now. I will be using a highlander raised fiberglass hood. I have dove-tailed the front(14") and the rear(20"). I have a 3.5" rock crawler lift to keep it on the ground with the new 42"Iroks!!!! So for the motor, I plan to use everything stock on it. I might use the by-directional pump so I can retain the stock radiator. I will be moving the radiator forward with the front clip due to the hood being about 1.5" longer than the clip cuz of the dovetailing. the motor has serp system on it now.Thats about the most of what I've got for now...thanks for the help,Chuck

I used the 87 F-150 5.0 flywheel. The eb clutch and pressure plate will bolt right up, but you have to use larger bolts with that flywheel/pressure plate combo.
