35 spline drive slugs

i am running a full float 35 spline 9inch in the rear. i use to flat tow it so i put lock outs on so i could just flip it and drive away. well the lock outs would not stand up to off road abuse in the rear so i put a front full time 35 spline slug in the back and got rid of the lock outs. my doubts are that the stock 35 spline slug is about 1 inch thick on the axle splines and about a half inch thick on the hub spline, is it going to chew up the hub splines and do i need aftermarket slugs that are twice as thick on the hub. thanks
