This is a new one for me. Customer just brought in an early bronco with a 351 Cleveland. The oil pan is bashed all to heck from hitting the front axle. So...the fix. I am guessing I need to find a rear sump oil pan from a 78-78 bronco with a 351M which should fit the Cleveland. Also guessing I will need to change the oil pump and pick up. Anybody have experience with this that could confirm or deny and maybe a source for these parts. Any advice would be welcome. Mark in San Diego, Beach City Broncos.

I’m kinda interested too my 72 has no lift 351c and dented oil pan... bought it this way.. the dipstick has been kindly remarked for its new streamlined capacity by its po and I do see they had made some bump stop extensions not sure if that was before or after the dents tho

The best pan for the Early Bronco with a Cleveland is a Canton 8qt. pan that is made to install a Cleveland into a Fox body Mustang. Yes, it is a rear sump. I'll post you some pictures soon.

Hmm - mine is a rear sump - no dents. I always assumed it was a 400 pan and pickup tube.
I replaced the oil pump but think it was a 400/351C pump

Hey Bam. The heads are aluminum aftermarket pieces made by a AFD (Air Flow Dynamics) in Australia. They have two designs for the Cleveland, a 4V configuration, which is much different than the Ford 4V, and one that is a 2V and it too is different than the factory heads. Unless you have well over 400 cubic inches and/or you are going to spin the Cleveland 7000 rpm or better, the AFD 2V is the best choice. The heads on Rattler are the 2V heads and this is a picture of the internals....

I used the 78-79 Bronco and 78/79 F150 4X4 351/400 oil pan on my 351C. It is shown below, it is more of a mid sump placement rather than a full rear sump. I was running a 5 1/2" lift and it still made its own clearance on the front drivers side corner on my then Dana 30 axle. So it is not ideal. Taller bump stops and it clears now. Kevko makes a rear sump pan also, part F603, not pretty, but might work?

Love those 351 Cleveland engines, I had one in a 66 Fairlane sedan years ago. I know I'm gonna stir up some bad air , but i think that the 351C was the best hi-performance small block that Ford ever built. Back in the early days of the Pro Stock class the GM and Chrysler cars couldn't run with them.
FordFan ,are those the Sanderson headers for the 351C in the pics?

Rattler has a 2.5" lift with a 1" body lift. The reason for the body lift is, I didn't want anything coming through the hood and the intake and the FI Tech take up a good bit of room. The Canton pan has enough room for the front diff without any lift too.

By the way Mark, do you recognize the wheels on Rattler? ..... I'll give you a hint. (whispering..) They have been in your shop.
