So after pulling the transmission for my 4R70W swap and expecting to replace the RMS, I found the seal to be in fine shape, it was the fel-pro one piece rubber gasket leaking at the back and a bit on the front.

It's a 94 engine, through block dipstick and aftermarket pan with flat rails. I did use rtv in the corners of the mains as instructed. I have read alot of threads about it and experiences seem to be all over. Any ideas or advice?

I have used them on other engines successfully. I am going to take a close look at the pan, I am suspicious of it! Lol

I confirmed my suspicions, the outer corners of the pan were higher than the sides. I was able to make that surface all even so hopefully it will seal better.
