I moved this over from the for sale section to see if I could get some feed back/ opinions on how much this engine is worth.... I know I have well over $3000.00 in parts / labor. but I have only had 1 serious inquiry on it in almost 3 weeks of trying to sell/trade it.

I'm no expert, but it depends on whether you built it yourself (and your qualifications), or had it built by a machine shop or engine builder. If there's paperwork on it and a warranty, that makes a big difference to me. What machining work was done? Was it decked and honed or just punched 30-over and assembled with new seals and gaskets? I have friends who've had to take professionally-built motors back to the builder with problems. You can't very well do that with a shade-tree built motor. Give more detail. When I'm buying, I want details. Can't speak for anyone else. My .02 GLWS

Probably better off on Ford and Mustang forums.

Also $2500 for a rebuilt engine that was done in a "home shop" environment and can't be test fired may be scaring some away.

Not taking away from what you may have spent or put into it, but I think the price is abit high for a stock rebuilt non roller engine. For comparison, I can buy a stock, fully machined 351 roller assembly (no carb, manifolds etc..and no core) delivered for under $1500 with a 4yr/40k warranty.

I couldnt find my reciept so I called napa where I had the work done and they are going to reprint one.

I could fire it up and would be willing to do so but after i fired it people wouldnt be able to see that all the parts are Brand new in it.....

So If my engine is fully machined, but it isnt a roller and it doesnt have a warranty. It would seem that if everyone can get the same deal as you on a camparable engine, then there wouldnt be anyone willing to buy mine for $1500. which is half of what I spent to build it. My ability to find new and creative ways to loose my ass building Broncos is something I would like to stop doing. I Guess I'll have to come up with some other way to get rid of it....

So Napa did the boring?

I think it would help to know what specifically was done to it like

Here's my 351W...Napa decked, aligned cam and mains, balanced rotating assy, added XYZ pistons, rings are made by, cam is a stock grind or RV grind made by...lifters are made by...coated bottom of lifters with...and heads have pedestal rockers that have been properly shimmed or whatever style and you double checked the pattered on the valves and here's a pic to prove it.

Ya man it's hard to sell anything built at home, so it seems.

Looking at the overspray on the valve springs and crank snout along with the brown (rusty looking) main bearing caps are not strong selling points. Just looking at the ad, there is no way I would pay good money for that engine. I would pay more for a used take out than for an untested shadetree build.

I am not clear as to what you mean by a "shade tree" build. Are you implying that I am doing something shady here? Not cool dude.. I'm just trying to get this out of my Garage. Yep I got a little excited in the final stage building this and got a little over spray on some rocker arms. The motor has been sitting built for 4 years wraped in shrink wrap and then a trash bag "dust cover" put over it so the brown on the main caps happened. I guess I'll take it back to Napa and have them disasemble it and re clean those main caps... whats another couple hundred at this point.....

I have trouble selling anything ; seems like buy high sell low is the "Norm" for me.
Prices vary somewhat depending on what part of the country you live in but here i can buy rebuilt 351w longblock , new pistons , cam, valves , springs and etc for $1800 with a guarantee and a local guy to go back to if have any issues. So yes it's kinda hard to sell rebuilt motors sometimes - for decent money that is.

You get one chance to make a first impression.
Selling something is about presenting it in a positive way.

The gasket mounting surfaces are not clean and there is surface rust visible.
Leads people to assume that careful work was not done.

Then these are mentioned but not pictured or better described:

"Also included is the upper and lower intake manifolds and a few other parts required to put fuel injection in a early Bronco."

Which manifolds?
Lightning/GT40?
Old truck lower + old Mustang upper + BCB adapter?

Those two set-ups are not equal $ value.
