I am looking at an F250 with the diesel that is running 38" tires. Do you think I will be able to tow the Bronco around without much trouble? I don't know if it has the stock gears or what. It has the manual tranny which I didn't really want. What are everyones thoughts on this? I really don't want to get it unless I can tow stuff around with it.

what kind of tires are they? the only thing i'd be concerned about is if they're E rated or not... i don't know how many E rated 38" tires there are out there, but if they're D rated you risk splitin them wide open on the rode while towing.

Definetly need to know the gear ratio but it sounds like its to high to be a decent tow rig get something closer to stock.

Mark @ JBG uses this as his tow rig. Stock gears, 8" lift, 38" E-load rated Swampers, tows like a dream. The tires do seem to wear fairly quickly. I think he's running 4.10 gears.

If I were to do something similar, I'd go with a 35" BFG AT KO

A powerstroke has enough torque with stock gears to spin 38's and pull a load. Especially with the low first gear for taking off.

Mark can't spin his 38's on his dually, but he did upload a power program into his truck one night and he could light them up no problem with that.

I talked to a tire shop and they said they would not worry about towing with a D rated tire. The tires that are on it are rated at 3500 lbs per tire.

Let me have it.

i would worry about the brakes with that big of a tire and a trailer in tow. IMHO anything over a 35" tire and towing is pushing it.

A D rated 38 probably has more load capacity then an E rated 33" tire. Check the manufactures' specs to find out what the actual weight rating of the tires are.

They have a rating of around 3100 lbs per tire. I did end up buying a different one with 35" tires. A little more practical. Thanks for all the info. It is going to be SWEET towing the bronco now instead of driving for hours on end and getting there deaf with chapped lips.
