Has anyone had trouble with the 4x4x2 box hitting the front core support? I had to cut the bottom of the flanged area below the tubing chanel and bend the bottom out about 3/4". I read several posts but did not see this being an issue.

Thanks in advance!

Quite common. Even with a stock power steering box. When the Bronco was offered with power steering from the factory in '73, the core support was redesigned with a cutout to clear the PS box. Doing a PS conversion to a 66-72 often requires notching the core support so the steering box will drop down far enough.

Thanks,
I thought I had done something wrong installing it. I guess I have been lucky on the last couple of Bronco's and not had a problem.
I appreciate the info!
Have a good one!

Thats the way my last one went too. I had a 1" BL on the last one and this current one. This is the first time I have had interference with the core support. The last Four Broncos I have owned were pre 73 and I never had a problem. I guess Murphy came to visit this time! Its all good , a little massaging the steel and I got it to fit.
Thanks for the reply!

I forgot to mention the others were stock power steering boxes, this is my first 4x4x2 install. Maybe that makes a big difference too.

It's definitely a bulkier box, but not sure just how much more sticks forward. If any.
But it's definitely hit or miss with the clearance. You can clearly see on some stock setups that the factory box does not even come close to contacting the support so even if it had not been bumped out it would have fit.
Others sit right up into the pocket so would never have worked without the mod.

Bodies shift, mounts are welded on differently, things tweak over the years, and all that. I suspect it was just factory tolerances when building these things that accounts for most of this. But even that's hard to be sure of.
