5.0 factory-ish wiring diagram UPDATED 03/12/25: DIAGRAM ATTACHED

Folks, with the help of @EFI Guy and my OCD with wiring diagrams, I have created a wiring diagram using the Explorer battery JBox and C115 connector for your reference. If needed, let me know. I can't guarantee 100% accuracy but it's very close.

UPDATE:

Diagram is attached. Feel free to let me know if there are errors or omissions. Note this is based on my specific 1998.5 engine, @EFI Guy information and the 1999 Helms manual available in this link: Helms 1999 Ford Explorer Mountaineer Wiring Diagrams.pdf

I would also be interested in seeing it. Just got my explorer 5.0 pulled, reworking the harness is probably my next step.

If this is the diagram you sent me a week or so ago it is very well done! The one thing I caution people about is using c115 pin numbers. They are not always the same and some manuals have errors in them. If ever in doubt refer back to the PCM pin number just a few inches away.

Yes it is and I added a few more items. I am using C115 pin numbers, circuit numbers from a 1999 Helms manual and wire colors that matched that diagaram, @EFI Guy C115 pinout chart and my particular build.

@EFI Guy is 100% correct that some connector pins were changed around through the various years. Also the manuals have mistakes. For example, it shows a wire on the 87a (normally closed) terminal of a relay but really needs to be on 87 (normally open). I might have a few extra wires in there that I don't need.

I'll put some finishing touches on it over the weekend and attach it. I tried to make it all fit on 1 page for easier following. This is a bare bones diagram for engine startup testing and reusing the battery J box.

Great wiring diagram!! I made the C-115 pin detail chart in 2018 that you have on the right side of your wiring diagram. Glad to see it used in your diagram! It definitely helped me when I was re-working my engine harness. Appreciate you making the wiring diagram....I'm definitely saving that! Cheers, B2

Shout out to you sir for the C115 pin descriptions!!! Thought they came from another source and would have referenced you as a contributer in my acknowledgements.

Appreciate the compliments on the diagram. I use wiring diagrams as part of my career, so I try and make them easy to follow. This was the result of completely redoing the factory harness and disconnecting every pin and wire.

Originally I was following @EFI Guy 's videos which are excellent but decided to reuse the battery J box due to all the fuses available, higher amp rating and more factory features I'm retaining.

I have 3 or 4 Bussman fuse blocks I was going to use but it was very messy compared to the factory J box.
