Hmm, my '66 is frame mounted but has a set screw and mounts on a tab like more modern mirrors. I always knew there were nuances to '66's but now I am really confused.
Who out there is a Bronco mirror differences expert?

I'll have to take a look and see what the F series trucks used.

The mirror in my 66 looks quite a bit different than the one on eBay.

Pretty sure it's original to the truck but not positive

Anybody care to comment?

Pretty sure there's 3 or 4 common, we started a thread here about it a year or so ago. Mine is the same as yours, but has a different stem.

On a thread over on coloradoclassicbroncos it was mentioned that Ford used several different mirrors on the '66, almost like they just grabbed whatever mirrors were handy.

Just to clarify, I wasn't bashing on the seller. Just shell shocked at the price. Didn't understand how rare they were. Every Bronco add includes the words "very rare"

Just because it's listed for a price doesn't mean it will actually sell.

Then again, I never thought I'd see '66 hub caps go for over $1,000 a set.

The question you have to ask your self is if you have 2 of them just like this one and he sells his for 600+ then what would you want for yours?;)I know what I would ask for mine!

I have at least one in the parts stash. If I ever need one, I'm glad I don't have to buy one! They are very hard to find and like others have said, you play you pay!

Not entirely true.

If it isn't for a '66 the ad might only say rare.

And to think awhile back I was going to throw this away!

Did all 66 have rear view mirrors? Our sept build has one attached to the glass. I'm assuming it was added some time ago, as it looks age appropriate (patina). So I've been following this thread, and looked at our windshield frame, there are no holes for this type of mirror between the sun visors. Truck has never been restored, so strongly doubt they were filled. Is it possible it was built with out one, then one was added to the glass?

Glass mounted mirrors are correct too! I believe the government required all broncos be equipped with rear views. In fact there are about six/seven different versions of mirrors I have seen over the years. And all versions were noted multiple times with multiple broncos.

Good to know, and glad I don't have to ponder a many hundreds of dollar rear view mirror. Looks like that one got out of our area (wearing MA plates, and inspection sticker). Glad I didn't know it was for sale when it was still here.....
