Hi all,
I have acquired a 289 oil bath filter to use for my build. I'm wondering if someone has taken their filter "completely and totally" apart. Including removing the interior metal mesh filter. I see there is a "cap" on the top of the exterior housing that looks like it might be removable (twist off or pull off?) and then allow you to remove the interior mesh canister. Also there appears to be an interior "ring" that is surrounding and "punched" into the interior mesh canister housing to hold in place. Anyone with any experience please chime in!! I like to completely disassemble things to get out all the contamination and return it to like new if I can... Thanks in advance for your valued opinions!!
Cheers,
John

I haven’t, but I have heard of multiple people soaking it in a bucket of solvent to clean the material inside of it...

Thanks. I get the soaking part. I actually wanted to disassemble it far enough to blast all of it with walnut shells so I could either powder coat or re-paint the whole thing...
