I have exhausted my search for a replacement cowl to windshield frame seal. This is not the seal with the lip that wedges inside the hinge when closed, but actually seals the cowl to the hinge on the 66-67 style bolt on windshield frames.

Attached pic shows original seal on my 66 U13. The common seal with lip that seals the hinge is also pictured for comparison.

First time I've ever had eyes on one in fact. Figured they existed, but haven't had a bolt-on frame off before.
Wonder why they don't exist in the aftermarket yet. Seems like it would be pretty simple and cheap to make.
Does yours appear that it was the firmer rubber material like the one that sandwiches between the hinge? Or is it seemingly softer, and more "foam" like?

But the good news is that it should be easy to mimic one out of some thin material and just make it work.
I've always wondered too, if simply filling the hinge area (where the other seal goes) with silicone sealer wouldn't do a better job of keeping moisture out of that rust-prone area.
Haven't had the opportunity to try it yet, but seems like with very few people ever wanting to fold their windshield down anyway, that it would hurt anything to glue it shut.

Seems like this lower seam, between the hinge and cowl, would be an even better candidate for sealant.

That's the seal for the hood to cowl, not windshield to cowl. Not sure why you can't take the hinge seal and punch holes in it for the screws, maybe cut off edge. I just installed one on a 73. I'm pretty sure it'll work fine.

That is alot thinner than the typical gasket . I've used black windshield strip caulk . It doesn't harden , will mould to the cowl when bolted down & you won't destroy the hinge if you ever have to remove it again as hardening silicone would .

I'm bolting my frame in (not 66/67). I bought a couple of different rolls of rubber tape in 3/4", maybe 1" also to just make something. Will do same for hinge to frame. Went thin to not push frame too far up but also think enough to seal. Fall back plan is black RTV smoothed out and dry

I haven't assembled yet so no idea what will really work

Oops you're correct, mistake on my part!

No worries, we'll all pitching in to help! I actually just installed that piece too.

Probably right. My gasket was pretty thick. I guess you don't want that much flexibility between the hinge and the cowl.

Hinge seal

I used 3M double sided tape on my stainless steel hinge and made it so it bolts to the cowl and the windshield frame.
